This video alone probably made some TikTokers have an aneurism over a 'missed chance to create a year worth of short form content' :D A million thanks for making these, and not just that, but for free!

On listening to music/podcasts etc while concentrating: it depends on what stimulation level you can handle. Studies have been done that show that introverted people do well with less background stimulation, while extroverted people do better with more stimulation. They measured it with how many decibels of noise people felt most comfortable concentrating at. Extroverts higher noise levels, introverts less noise.

AI can do everything except save people's lives. AI ChatGPT will destroy the whole world not by violence or outsmarting them but by giving people the impression that they know when they don't. They never know they are being misled. People can never know who they are internally; they can only have textbooks and limited conventional knowledge about inner human consciousness and spirituality. People become more ignorant but think they are wise. False knowledge is the worst kind; people can kill themselves, dying slowly and silently.

I was looking and listening to the video and as you said I started having ideas of mine, I just want to share one : Let's start from your idea that the ground is covered in fog, with the creatures crawling underneath it. The people from the spires realized that the monsters are sensitive to sunlight. So they come up with kind of bombs that they drop from the big motherships. It plants itself in the ground, start pumping air, like a lot, until the kind of belly of the bomb is under a huuuuge pressure then it explode (like whoooosh) creating a big hole in the fog letting the sun pass and so ridding a zone of the creature for like one or two hours before the fog reform and the creatures come back, while the mothership hovers above the area with big propeller parrallel to the ground. So the people can come and gather ressources or hunt for a little while. And of course ... Accident happens, that's when the parents or the hero you were talking about disappeared. Well that was what came to my mind :D Loving the video and the previous ones, gold stuff !!

This is so great! It's very fun just watching and listening to your instructions, Feng. I hope you're able to share more of your experience and insight about concept design. For someone in my situation where I can't afford a design school, your knowledge is far more valuable than gold. Thank you so much!

Thank you for sharing! This has been immeasurably valuable! I'm a coffee roaster and am working towards transitioning to all creative work. It's a little cheeky of me but when the roasts are going smoothly I sketch I do some sketching, mostly of customers - the roaster is in the cafe. The long form videos have been perfect during my shifts so thank you again for returning and dropping gems for the people 😊 While I'm being cheeky, you mentioned using the Cintiq only briefly and putting it aside. If you still have it and don't use it can I give it a new home? 😅

This is so great! I kinda trained myself to execute other people's briefs and when it comes to personal projects the endless possibility of it really makes it hard for me to pick myself a task to design

[ the only issue is , this is focusing on where the puck is rather than where the puck is going , which will require us to unfold meaning while we brace for that future when the tools are available to fulfill all the current limitations of ai ] [ when ai has billions of sources, there will be novel looking results ] [ just for example , there is a story-building team working on tools for midjourney that will address some of these subjects ] [ i think it's good for us to talk about how we adapt to this ] [ great videos feng you have the best channel on youtube ]

Hahahaha. Man, this episode is hilarious. Probably also dramatic from Feng's point of view because of the harsh truths it tells about today's artists. I saw him give this presentation in Paris, yet this is sooo much better with the demo. Truly epic😂

My two cents from working on a few big budget games - a LOT of the design work is given TO the concept artists BY the AD in the form of loose sketches and reference. So for me, a lot of the work I've been doing could be called 'concept visualisation'.

The longer videos are very good, it shows how it's done in real time. We can draw along side and aswell it avoid us to rush and to beat ourself up about not being fast enough just because for a long time the speed painting were very popular and it was easy to to quickly judge our work. I think that for a lot of people the long format is the best :)

Mister Feng! Thank you so much for this incredible impact you have made to us! I cannot express in words all those emotions and convey all the gratitude for the knowledge that you patiently shared with us all these years This classroom environment - pure gem, thank you for sitting with us all this time instead of going to the fancy restaurant :D I'm so glad, soo inspired by your words, this type of working process you show - is exactly how i'm thinking, living, enjoying stuff; this was so cool then am i being like *woo, this is so cool, i wanna do this and that - and you answered "exactly what i wanna hear!" !! Hard stuff is more enjoyable, making something what makes people get excited and kinda transport them to another world - whats something what i wanna do all of my life You are a so big inspiration and wonderful teacher, one day, if you don't mind, i will impress you with my concepts with clearly readable thinking process! I won’t be able to convey all my gratitude in a comment, but at least a small part - Thank you so much!

This stuff is so valuable to see worked out in real time.. Even though sped up videos are obviously sped up, its hard to understand the thought process behind design, and I've made bad habits over the years of rushing the process in favour of getting something going rather than working out a high quality design

Hi, thank you very much because after my two courses in artschool which were not drawing and design I learned alone with the feedback of professional friends. I have only had work for an Australian director for four years alone since then it has not been easy, I am learning to succeed in finding work through passion and have a family to support. I thank you for the time you devote to creating this free content which helps a lot to move forward, thank you very much. Ps: I live in Alsace in France so if you need reference photos don't hesitate to ask me that would be the least I can do to thank you for everything you do to others, have a nice day.
