The 962 was the IMSA version. After drivers suffered severe leg injuries in Indy cars in the early 1980's, various sanctioning bodies changed the rules mandating the the drivers feet be behind the center line of the front wheels. Porsche 956s and 962s were known for being "flexi-fliers". Some speculate that Palmer survived his crash at Spa while Bellof did not because Palmer was driving a non factory 956 with an aluminum honeycomb chassis.

The Yamaha XTZ 750 was a parrallel, NOT a vee-twin, which makes me wonder how much good research went into making this video?

Sonacom took 1980s 1st, 3rd and fourth places, outstanding sleeper achievement that the west kept in dark considering they only participated with 3 trucks and you usually do not hear about them after that because it was just a showcase of the company capabilities and algeria always keeps good thingies for it's people rather exporting them, this company's trucks are invested in public services, transportation, sanitation...ect still in production till this day and they are hyper hyper reliable yet super easy to fix, i got in an old sonacom bus the other day (maybe from the 70s or earlier) and it ran perfectly and suspension was😮😮😮😮😮, the only downside to this brand is the ugliness which you'll like over time😂😂😂😂)

The 2 turbutwins where developed by DAF, not the Rooi. he drove them.. Athe that time, it was factory team until the crash of the X2. after that DAF withdrew from it. That is talso the reason de Tooi quit that time.. the info in the video is not quite ritght

The 155 Ti blew the germans away so much so that they had to change the regulations for the Germans to even compete with the 155... to this day the Germans still cannot build a balanced light weight vehicle with a musical 2.5 V6!

I just watched Jochen Mass in a 962 trying to catch the Patrese Lancia at Spa. The Lancia is lightning quick away at the chicanes (without cam equipment). Thankyou for the insight and my points go to the vicious C9. She reminds me of the old GT40 girls in many respects.

I like how you combine the history of the sport with clips of the sounds these beasts made. It combines 2 of my favorite things in motorsports; the history of how the icons of the sport came about, and the pure eargasms those powerplants produced. I can't wait to see this channel grow!

Rotary engines can be very reliable. In fact the reliability of the 787 is what won for Mazda. Wasnt the fastest car but the most reliable by far. They took the engine apart after LeMan and descovered it could go run another 24 hours before a rebuild was needed. Rotary engines like high rpm they dont like low revs like city driving carbon builds up. Most people are un aware of that and how effective an Italian tune up can be on a rotary.

An interesting fact that I don’t think was mentioned in the video was that, in race trim, the E30 M3 2.5L engine was putting out about 400 hp at 10,000 RPM. That 160hp/L without forced induction!
@davidvitan3590
@davidvitan3590 Жыл бұрын
That's a huge exaggeration, but yes, the race version did put out a LOT more than 200/240 hp. The 2.5 probably made around 340 hp
@Nordmore68
@Nordmore68 Жыл бұрын
@@davidvitan3590 The 1995 Alfa 155 dtm V6 generated more than 490 hp at 11 700 rpm, but this was basically a scilouette-racer on a tube-frame, and the engine had little in common with the production-engine. The last officially factory-backed E30 had 365 hp in 1992.

I did not like the video. the cars you listed in the title the cars you showed... the cars that made DTM were e30m3 and 190evo. DTM in the "golden era" why was it golden? Because they were something you could buy from your dealer. homologation specials. DTM was in its prime mid eighties to maybe 91, the first year the 190evo took a title. Lets look at the cars? Ok? Lets look you show me a couple german and an italian? where is the FORD RS that took the title in 88? The Rover in 86? The Audi in 90? These were the true golden ages! The M3 cut its teeth in 87 and won again in 89. If you took the era with the best cars the ones people could buy the ones that made the series the Evo190 and E30 had three titles, others held three 1986 to 1991. Extended a year earlier or later you get Volvo winning in 85 Merc in 92 so four and four.... yet you dont show any of these cars? They won an equal number of races and titles? One of the best stories of DTM was the team that ran a Ford Mustang for four years! I did not see it in your video nor was there any mention of it? DTM was great for its diversity of cars and they were cars you could buy, along with most of the parts if you wanted them. It was a special time and it was bigger than just the two German cars.... more detail if you should make a part 2 with greater focus on the cars their road versions and why this was something that propelled DTM to its heights.

Sorry, but this is quite lame to talking about the Porsche 956 and 962 in the shortest time of all these cars in this video, because 956/962 were the absolute kings of the Group C racing era! These Porsches dominated Group C in a way, like no other racing cars before and after them a whole series. Period! Talking about 956 and 962 being "too fast and dangerous" is quite idiotic, dude! Every car in the Group C era had a tremendous top speed capability. The Porsche 956 and 962 literally dominated the whole 1980's endurance racing era, and even in 1994 another LeMans victory happened for Porsche with the Dauer-Porsche 962! In some years of the 1980', the first 8-10 finishing racing cars at LeMans were Porsche 956, 962 and some 911 derivatives from lower classes.
