Not to be an annoying commenter, but I saw in the english-heritage site that they don't permit drone footage. because of insurance and blah blah. Careful they don't get you in trouble!

You're not an annoying commenter :D you are right indeed! But we don't lift from the English heritage site, we ahere to the CAA guidelines and drone 120m above :) totally understand the comment though :D

Ahh and this one also is unmanned so droning is very much still allowed. In other castles like Kenilworth etc they are more stricter, but we do adhere to the CAA regulations and make sure that we do not obstruct :) hope you enjoyed the video though :)

We love this place, it's so special. We were here only yesterday as it was my birthday and I wanted to have a picnic there, walk the ruins and visit the beautiful wishing tree. We have been several times and left a ribbon and I must say, so far, all the wishes have actually come true.

Hi Alessa Another remarkable visit to historic site. It amazes me the oldest church stands still proudly. Walls are thick and tall as my neck hurts Its history always fascinates me. I can picture the life back in the day with those marvelous architecture. Another church has a lot of charm I would love to visit myself. Send my standing ovations...Alessa And Brett. Forgive me not active in the chat. I am exhausted from a filming trip. My physical challenges left me the pain. My body has cut and bruises hahah.

This castle design is actually very common, but rare to see examples so well preserves. Here in Wales, our own Cardiff Castle is exactly the same. Before they used stone to build castles, they would build the same design of castle using wood walls or palisades in a circular structure at the top of a hill, and they often would have another encircling or walls at the bottom of the hill too or in this instance, they used a draw bridge. I think the thing that makes this castle unusual, isn't because its circle, but because of the way that its built like a hill fort - which was normal, and then they weirdly have level ground which is in line with the top of the hill with this draw bridge. This could be an example of the castle being added to in a later period because usually the hill fort would be solitary, the purpose of it being on a hill and surrounded by a moat is that its really difficult to attack, so the fact that you have a drawbridge to level ground from this clear hill fort design is what in my opinion is making it quite unusual Looking at it again, it does look like the ground was placed their artificially to have that ramp/bridge exist. Its original design would definitely have just been steps leading up to the gate so im betting it was added to by a later occupant of the castle

A absolutely fantastic read, thank you Nick for further educating me/us! We have yet to experience Cardiff, but it's on the never ending list. You could indeed be right about the later occupant of the castle adding to it's fortifications at a later stage as the castle went through various families who wanted to advance it to their liking. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a comment, it's so fun to read! :D

@@PinnedonPlaces you're welcome! I look forward to the day that you potentially do visit Wales! @@NickLongFilmmaking We've had the pleasure of visiting many Welsh Castles, if you have the time, please check some out! Some favourites of mine are Raglan, Kidwelly, Tretower, Castell Coch! Again, thank you so very much, it's truly appreciated! :D
