Yeah, Tanchico makes sense. Doing the show in just 8 seasons means lots of stuff needs to be compressed. So accelerating trolloc attacks etc. makes sense. I don't see a need for Galad to be a Trakand instead of a Damodred...or vice versa for Gawyn. Not that big of a deal, though. They'd better hurry, or I'm not gonna live long enough to see all of the show.

What? The show absolutely has NOT aligned the Seanchan with the Dark. ONLY Suroth (and perhaps some members of her entourage) were Darkfriends, which is book canon. Turak explicitly gives a speech about his duty to unite the world to defeat the Dark. Turak has a whole scene about not knowing who Ishy is. Renna gives us a window into the average Seanchan citizen's belief that their purpose is to unite the world against the Dark. Ishy thought he'd be about to manipulate the whole empire, but he also thought Falme would be the LB so I don't think his judgement is particularly trustworthy.

Your theories have mostly been right so I'm just going to accept these. Do you think (or suspect) that work on S4 is quietly ongoing? Outlines for the scripts under discussion, locations being scouted, costumes being sewn? Rafe may be busy with the final editing for S3. but I can't see all this time going to waste. Sure, once Amazon commits to S4, Rafe will want to start work immediately. A 2 year hiatus between seasons erodes fan involvement and enthusiasm.

As a fan of the books I can say they have absolutely nailed the casting for this show (I did think Barney Harris was perfect to play Matt).

I'd be OK with Galad having his stepmom's name but not with them changing his family tree. I want to see his face when he learns that his sister is having his brother's babies! There is one major change that I'd absolutely love to see in the show: Dain Bornhald gets the Whitecloak redemption arc while Galad becomes an Asha'man instead. He's totally eligible for that, and not even book readers would have any idea if he's going to go mad. The fact that Perrin actually killed Geofram in front of Dain already implies major changes to the Whitecloak storyline, and I think Dain is fairly sympathetic so far. The story could go something like this: Rand learns the identities of his birth mother and brother from the Wise Ones. Galad channels at the end of season 3, seeks Rand out because of the amnesty and Rand tells him about Tigraine and that he's dating Elayne. Considering some of the changes that have already happened, I think there's a non-zero chance of something like this happening.

Absolutely incredible how they so consistently and deliberately sought out the most average looking to outright ugly old hags for nearly all the female cast, even those who are supposed to be very attractive or even exceptionally gorgeous. Then on the other hand hiring literal male models of exceptional good looks for numerous male rolls and for the majority of male rolls at the very least attractive to good looking men. Disgusting flagrant sexism by the show runners. Anyone who denies this blatant reality is either delusional or a liar.

An entire video where Gawyn is a major focus and it is only 20 minutes? Jon. I guess you were busy at work this week. I would have expected such a video to be at least an hour. For such an hour video, I expected 5 minutes for Galad; the rest for Gawyn.

I think Gawyn & Mat would be a good pairing; that would be a good scene. Buuut I don't like that scene. Because Gawyn didn't know himself in the books, not until the end. That's what happens when you grow up pampered without many needs. He was a great character - could've been jealous of the more-handsome Galad, but wasn't; could've been jealous of his to-be-queen sister, but wasn't. And yet he had his flaws because he found real life difficult to navigate when he had to start making his own decisions about right and wrong.

He does have a striking resemblance to Josha Stradowski

The best part is, it's gonna be hard for the show to mess up gawyn, because he's already a character people love to hate.

I wonder if the aes sedai from the first script could possibly be a forsaken in disguise as an aes sedai. Not sure if the timeline pans out for that, but it could be an interesting twist. Also, I am sad I won’t be able to watch wot idol live this year 😢.

With aging eyes, I can no longer read for hours on end, so I have purchased audiobooks of my favorites. Wheel of Time is the only one I have the whole series and have listened to all of them multiple times. The idea of soundscapes is intriguing and I will definitely be purchasing it when available.

To me, the bonkers beginning has to be the Black Ajah stealing angreal, sa'angeal, etc, and fleeing the tower to Tanchico. Just seems roo early for the tower coup unless they are doing another time jump and leaving stuff out - Last we saw Siuan she was still in Cairhien (losing Moiraine and Rand to Lanfear) and we haven't even met Elaida yet (Audition script with Leane whilst Siuan was away) for her to sow all the seeds of doubt about Siuan's leadership ability. Not to say there won't be another battle then as well, but the show would have to start with the trial of Siuan and she and Leane being stilled (no idea if Min or Logain get a part to play here.)

The audition script are giving me serious Terry Goodkind vibes, in a very bad way. Very cardboardish cartoony dominatrix-like villain. Not to mention the show so far has really fleshed out their villains, so that they are not just evil psychos. And no AS is exempted from the heartbreaking anguish when the Warder bond is broken by the Warder's death, this is a key element that bolsters how intimate and strong the channeler-warder relationship is throughout the books, even if it is not always in the foreground, so the gloating when a black AS kills her warder is seriously against book lore.

I'm the same... I can't focus on audiobooks. Similarly, I can't do podcasts. Don't even get me started on talk radio! I did listen to some of the audio book for WoT some years ago but while reading the book. That was fun. This companion sounds amazing and I would definitely try that!

That first script is unbelievably fucked up. The way she takes pleasure in the pain she feels as her Warder dies is extremely disturbing. And the way she talks to him before killing him is psychotic, I really hope this scene or something similar is in the final product, cause that script honestly gave me chills and would be very effective for new viewers.

The Show has introduced the concept of Aes Sedai swearing additional oaths on the Oath Rod. After some of the Black Ajah reveal themselves, one Sister has to suggest that they remove the Oath not to lie and reswear that Oath as well as they are not Black Ajah. It took so long in the books to do that because it was against custom for any Sister to swear an additional Oath.

Jon. I disagree with you that the Tower coup will also not result fighting and death. As pointed out on Talk'anriad (sp - at least this is where I frst heard this observation), we need a bloody Towe coup. Without it, there is np reason for about a 1/3 of the Sister to flee to Salidar. The fighting that resulted from the Blues trying to rescue Siuan and Leane before they were stilled gave reason for the split.
