Wheel of Time Season 3 set leaks! Yes we have some more photos of the sets from Season 3. We aren't going to show them, but we will talk about them! There are Aiel, tents, what appears to be a hold and a number of others! These are all from South Africa, specifically Atlantis Dunes and if you are from the area we would love to hear from you!!

Donal Finn is currently playing Orpheus in the West End production of Hadestown and they started rehearsals in early January, so I don't think he has been filming during this time frame. He did miss a few days of previews, so he may have done something then? But I don't think he is part of anything they are filming right now because of the performance schedule in London. They opened on February 10 and I haven't seen any casting calls to replace him, so he's probably going to be there for a bit.

Did read his was a limited appearance. But this seems to confirm his absence from the Waste and Rhuidan filming. Which is a shame; his character kinda changes, and he hears the prophecies of his future! This is a major change from the book and one which may cost Rafe a lot of fans.

@@carolbriscoe9337 Yeah, if I remember correctly, the initial engagement with the theater space is 8 months. As they see how successful it is, the production may extend its run. But actors in theater productions switch out all the time. Usually there’s an announcement at least a couple weeks before, because a main cast member leaving usually draws extra ticket sales. Unlike broadway shows though, West End casting calls are much harder to find online (you have to know someone usually) so we probably won’t even know when they have started auditioning to replace him, if he has to leave before this production closes.

@@carolbriscoe9337 All that being said, it doesn’t mean that his stuff wasn’t filmed before or that he can’t do something from a soundstage. Or that he didn’t arrive later to the rehearsals. He’s not very active on social media, which would be the easiest way. My timeline is based on one of his castmates that I love and follow, but he doesn’t appear in much of her socials either.

@@carolbriscoe9337 Just to say, there was definitely filming in the waste before now. Rafe was on the set of Rhuidean in October and there was likely waste filming at the studios in Prague

I sooo hope they don't mess up Mat's story. So far it's been kind of meh... but I understand plans had to be changed when they lost the actor and the characters wasn't were he was supposed to be... now he's with everyone else. I like Mat in the Waste and I'm currently re-reading Fires of Heaven... Cairhien was just saved... Mat ("off screen") defeated the enemy and was a big hero when he had originally wanted to get away... He gained a lot of respect as a leader, which is important... if he's not in the Waste (I'll be sad not to have the doorway and the time with just Rand & Mat etc) but then he's not in position to become a leader... and work with Talmanes & Nalesean ... Will he just accidentally end up in Cairhien to help with the battle? I'm a little worried that his story will be changed too much and that it won't be the same at all. I really would love to see the Aiel photos... I can't wait to see how the Waste and all that is on screen.

Mat's story is just about gone. The fact that he's in Tanchico just about confirms this. I, like many of us was led down a path believing Rafe when he said he was a fan of the book series. All I see is that he's a fan of Egwene and the Aes Sedai. The rest of the story has become superfluous and it's now a fan-fiction story. There's a possibility Perrin and Rand can have stronger stories in Season 3 but I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.

Mat Mat Mat! Since they already gave him his answers with the horn of valier, do they actually need the door? Morain already got her answers from the first door. So I wonder if they might have Mat get his medallion and staff a different way. I think to keep the storyline moving forward the Waste is probably going to really focus on Rand. I think he needs to do his trip and reveal he is the Car’a’can. I think this fits as it pulls in with Morain realizing that others need to be included. Rand has to start his quest to unite the Aiel. Plus it gives us a new antagonist that isn’t the Chosen (the clans that reject Rand).

The medallion? Mat gets his protection from magic in Rhuidan and hears the prophecies of his future: the 9 moons process and giving a light to safe the world? Remember those?

Sanderson already said the bed post dagger is the ashandarei so I doubt we get any of Mat and the Finn going forward

Also the reason for the tea visions and the horn filling his memory. Fox and snakes will get cut. Just gotta see how Rand gets told to go to the waste.

To be clear, Sanderson said he doesn’t have any specific knowledge about it, but that in his experience the writers are very economical with plot beats, and so given Mat already had a “get a special weapon” event, it’s unlikely he’ll have another one. (To me this makes sense especially it’d be odd to do it again in the very next season. Upgrading everyone in the final season could make sense, if it would serve the story somehow)

Sanderson admitted he didn't know what he was talking about. Donal has called it a "makeshift ashandarei" in an interview with Talk'aran'rhiod, which may imply the existence of a "real" ashandarei in the show.

Aside from budget, I don't get why they filmed season 2 in Morocco. A lot of the landscapes would have fit in perfectly as the Waste

It makes no sense. They've already overused arid desert environments (Fal Dara, which instead of the cold northern fortress it was meant to be, became a hot desert environment instead), along with Falme which also became an arid environment. They don't seem to understand that the Westlands are often called the Wetlands by the Aiel. I think Rafe and/or his location scouts just like hot and arid environments, and so keep using them over and over. Of course, that has left them with the problem of how to differentiate the Waste from the desert-like Westlands they've already shown. Nothing makes sense in this show.

That was just the wrap party for the Prague portion of the shooting They did a similar thing in s2

I have been a strong supporter of the show and understand the need for some of the changes (14 books into 8 seasons max doesn't go) and I think some of them are improvements on the books. However, if some of these things pan out with Matt, I will become disappointed. He needs to go through a doorframe somewhere and get his weapon, his full memories, the medallion and the prophecies (or at least get all 4 by some means in S3). If the dagger tied to a bamboo pole with a piece of cloth is his permanent weapon that is just bs, even for a fantasy - even I can't suspend belief that far. Neither would I like it if blowing the horn has filled all the gaps in his memories, especially his tactical expertise in battles. I really hope he goes through a door frame somewhere, even if he just meets one set of Finns, and comes out in Rhuidean. Matt also needs to get his marks in Rhuidean. He needs to spend some time in the Waste with Rand - the constant tension between Matt wanting to leave, but staying with Rand is a key part of his character development. It will also be a travesty if he doesn't play his role with Couladin which requires he meet Rand somewhere beforehand. They need to invest in getting Matt back on track. For me, the development of he an Min are the real weaknesses in S1 and S2.

IMO Mat has his weapon and his memories. They are cutting the snakes and foxes out of the show. I'm guessing he will get the medallion in Tanchico or another city. Probably when they find the Angrael horde. The metal tower had already been cut when they skipped the trip downriver with Bail Doman.

I speculate that if Mat have is true weapon with that dagger and the staff from the final of S2, would be cool for Nynaeve to at least "heal" the dagger from the evil and also for Perrin to forge something more practical out of it. What make me think about it is that Nynaeve mention that the A'dam cannot be healed (but maybe the dagger can) and as for Perrin contribution, Mat give him a dagger in S1 so maybe, as a blacksmith, he could do something cool for the weapon. For me, it would not make sense to use this evil weapon (without alteration to it) specially that he almost kill Rand with it. Or, if S3 is a big one for Rand and Perrin, maybe they will make something with the finns on S4 for a bigger plot development for Mat. P.S. Rafe told that he want to flesh out what is different, fresh and strange out the books and the finns is right there. I want the finns for Donal Finn! :)

You've watched the show for this long and still think that, just because something didn't appear at the exact same time and place as in the books, it's been cut? C'mon. They are masters of reweaving plot threads together into a new tapestry.

@va11 Your right. Specially the mirror scene with Mat in Falme. If its not in S3, it will be in S4 i think. I remember that Rosamund spoke about strange camera work with psychedelic effect. Its maybe for Rand and The glass columns but it could also be for Mat. That said, i think we will have the finns somewhere in S3 or S4. :)

I don't like ROP. To put It mildly it sucks. This coming season of WOT should be great. I just hope they fix faile's story line so it's rot doesn't spread to the rest of the ship.

I understand they are likely to protect their IP, but I hope they stay true to the fans. They have been in the past and I hope they will continue that way with WoT. I don't follow FoF so I can't compare the leaks. But Amazon seems to be true to Wot... At least... so far...

How have they not cancelled this dumpster fire yet? Can they at least change the name? When less than 10% of what happens in the show happened in the books, can you still legally call it an 'adaptation' instead of a soulless money grab that insults and outright rejects both the source material and the fans who have loved it for generations?

The fact that they are still shooting season three this late is because of the strikes. Thus the show will be coming out much later than it might have been without the strikes. Its an unpopular and frustrating opinion.

I don't care about Rings of Power merd. At all. I don't want to know anything. If I change my mind about it, I will be sure to go search those channels out. I am hoping you will not continue to talk about RoP on your channel. Other WoT content providers who also do RoP, I hardly ever watch now. So please don't join them. Can't stand RoP.

Still hyping and peddling this rafe crap... Super glad I passed on my South Africa trip this year if they are filming there right now. Being in proximity to that crap could be contagious.
