@@crazyfeller5704 I took video of the disassembly and noticed that cam chain was tight even though the machine sat for the whole fall winter/spring. I think it was that loose mostly because I had that tensioner out and compressed it bleeding out the oil. I still think the manual tensioner or even the upgraded tensioner that doesn’t allow it to push back in all the way will be better in the long run. Normally I would never not replace the cam chain but guys have 10,000 miles on these engines with original chains so I don’t think it’s stretched plus the engine has to be disassembled to change the chain. Polaris Engineers haven’t changed…

Glad I'm not the only one using ATF to put atv engines together. I use it straight ATF if I'm starting it within a couple weeks. And I mix it 50/50 with Lucas if it's sitting for months. I definitely prefer polaris's DOHC over there older push rod 6-800

@buildurtruckurway9118. That’s not ATF it’s Klotz 5w50 full synthetic. I would never use ATF on an engine build other than on the piston rings. Years ago when I first started building engines a preferred method was to use ATF on the rings only so that no carbon build up would occur vs using engine oil on valve seats and rings. So I came up with my own way and took it a step further using 2 stroke oil on rings and seats and my thinking was it was an oil that was meant to be mixed with fuel and burnt. I’m still old school I use a mixture of lubri plate and thicker engine oil for my “assembly lube”.
@buildurtruckurway9118
@buildurtruckurway9118 2 күн бұрын
@@Indeewoods I've always pre soaked everything in ATF. Then when I put everything together I use it and Lucas assembly lube mixed with ATF so that it actually flows into the bearing and the crank. 5w50 is my go to. but since I was given 3, 1 liter bottles of the assembly lube I have to say I love it. Couldn't use it up on 100 engines. But straight it just refuses to flow so I cut it with ATF to make sure I feel safe.
@Indeewoods
@Indeewoods 2 күн бұрын
@buildurtruckurway9118 I don’t like mixing oils especially when it’s an atf type oil but to each their own. I will use an assembly type lube for the bearings/cams and then I use a thinner non synthetic oil to break in the engine and seat the rings. I won’t run it long with the conventional oil just long enough to seat the rings and break in the cam if it’s new. After that it’ll see what ever oil is recommended. In this case it’s either 5w50 or 10w50 full synthetic. My regular oil I run in my everything here is Shell Rotella T6 5W-40. Since this one calls for a 50 weight I’ll use the Klotz 5w50

Agree with your video. Ya went down a loooong steep hill in the Rockies, engine braking + brake pedal worked great until the engine braking 'released' and I was full pedal to the bottom and going way too fast, I could feel the braking efficacy decreasing as the discs/pads heated up - sketchy. I wish there was a way to keep engine braking engaged - I guess I just needed to tap on the gas again but that's counter intuitive when you're bonsai down hilling trying not to crash. UForce 1000.
@Indeewoods
@Indeewoods 4 күн бұрын
@robfred2713 that’s right when it’s long steep hills you can’t speed up to engage the clutch to “engine brake”. That isn’t true engine braking most models have a one way clutch bearing and or an electric mechanism to slow it down right to a stop. Check and see if yours actually has a one way bearing. If it does and it’s not slowing you right down to almost a stop then it needs to be repaired. On really steep hills you’ll always have to tap the brakes the odd time but on mine now you should see the huge loads of wood I haul and the engine braking works awesome. If you get stuck having to use your brakes it’s best to keep your speeds as low as possible and pump the brakes on and off so you let them cool slightly vs steady pressure but sometimes it’s hard to do that.
@robfred2713
@robfred2713 4 күн бұрын
Trust me, I was thinking going down that hill that I was riding that break way too hard and way too long, no opportunity to pump and cool it, and RNG has a video about the inadequacy of the CF Moto brakes on the Uforce, and as I understand it, the larger UTVs, both CFMoto and Polaris, do not have the one-way bearings, I am not quite sure why, but the smaller Cforce models do have one, it may just have to do with the weight/mass, hauling wood as you say. RNG has a video of the common failure of those one-way bearings, he just replaces them with two way bearings. I’m just glad going down that hill I did not have two or three people on my bench seat, and a deer/elk in the back.
@Indeewoods
@Indeewoods 4 күн бұрын
@robfred2713 ya some cc models don’t have engine braking because they feel it makes the machine less sporty because when you let off it slows it a bit but I always thought it was so dumb ( and dangerous) not having it. You blow a brake line coming down a steep hill you better be ready to jump out lol. As for brake pads try to order some EPI severe duty brake pads. They work really good and last long
