I bought a chimney damper off Amazon and I experiment with different locations and show the results.

Hello! To answer your recent question, the sink strainer basket has worked great as a spark arrester. In fact, when i shoved a bunch of brown paper in to give it a good test, it got all fuzzy from catching it all and I had to clean it out, but the smoke still comes out smoothly. I had some old, 1 inch thick fire bricks (old, but never used) that I cut down and lined the bottom of the stove. Havent tried it yet, since, though. Really made the lil stove a lot sturdier. My stove is a different brand, but has the upside down pipes, too. Since mine will be set up in a long term spot, I got some wide, high heat aluminum tape to wrap each pipe seam with. If you or anyone knows of a reason why i might not should try that, please let me know. I hope it will prevent any smoke, air, or creosote leaks from the seems.

That’s a good idea. Maybe I’ll try that with the tape. I wish they’d just build the pipes the right way you think if they were building a woodstove they would know the basics of the way the chimney pipe is supposed to go. I see there’s several manufactures building these little stoves doing it that way.

Now I wanna build some sort of auto feed out of one of the side shelves. Three or four of the largest diameter logs that'll fit on the rack and roll down through an opening that has a door that's triggered by temperature. I Built a similar one for a much larger wood stove a friend uses to heat his 40x40 machine shop

@BruceLyeg if you build it, you should probably patent it lol

Excellent! Your content is most helpful. I'm living vicariously through your videos at the moment. I'm not going to get to test this stove/damper until early January as I've sent them out to Ontario to a friend I'll be doing a trip out there with. Nice to see them in action here and working well together. Thank you again!

@daniellepatenaude that’s a good time to go camping because all the bears should be asleep by then lol. I’m going to try one modification at a time to see what does what bit so far I’ve gained 1 hr burn time however the baffle plate I made was in and I plan to take it out and try it that was so we’ll see.

try puting the damper on the intake side of the stove and control the incomeing air and let the exhaust breath freely, then it wont smoke.
@Indeewoods

@A2J_Tim it’s not an air tight stove but it has an air intake damper already as well as secondary burn holes on the sides of the stove close to the top of the firebox. This stove doesn’t come with the chimney damper, so it was very smoke-free, but the pipe used to glow red hot without a chimney damper I have since made a bunch of modifications. Having it smoke free was never an issue with the stove now I’m just trying to make it burn longer and not have the stove. Be red hot yet not smoke me out either.

@@Indeewoods you could make a flat tin slide for the intake holes on the side going to your secondary burn similar to the slide on the front of the stove to control intake air flow, this will allow you to get rid of the damper as you wont need it, the fire box will now be under vacuum as the fire trys to suck in air, so even if you take the top lid off while its lit, it will never smoke. Controlling from the intake side is much better as you never have a back flow of smoke and your chimney will not build up creosote as fast.

@A2J_Tim yeah I could try that for sure. I don’t know. Every woodstove has a mind of its own and I’ve had stoves where I tried to not run a chimney damper, and they just let way too much heat out and there’s a sweet spot for the damper on those. I think if the stove is airtight having no damper makes sense but if it’s not an airtight stove I don’t think they work good without one, but I’ll tell you what I’m going to try it out and maybe I’ll even make a video of it. Stay tuned.

How did you separate the stove pipe? I used mine for the first time last night. Now the pipe seems welded
@Indeewoods
@Indeewoods 7 ай бұрын
@patriotlazerwerx yes I noticed that on mine as well. I had bought a different section of stove pipe before I bought this little woodstove, and it comes apart easy but the pipe that came with the stove fits a lot tighter. I suppose, probably just taking a little propane, torch and heating it slightly Would help it come apart or maybe you’d have to get a little fire going just to get some heat in the pipe then you could pull it apart before you tore down your tent and I’m not sure, but possibly taking some coarse sandpaper and just sanding the inside of the pipe would help it come apart the next time. I’m going to have to look into that and I’ll get back to you on another video with what I came up with.

@crazyfellow5704. Well hello. I didn’t flip the pipes yet so just have to make sure I have good hot fires. I normally don’t let it smoulder like that was just testing different things.
