The NGDB isn't the same without the voice of Ibbotsen.

Thank you, NGDB, I have loved you & your music all of my life, I was 11-12, when Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played a small rock club for teenagers in late 1967. My best friend, Cathy and I wanted to go so bad, Cathy’s older brother, Michael got to go and he brought home a kazoo, the Nitty Gritty handed them out. I imagine Jackson Browne was with them back then, we love Jackson Browne so much, our youngest son is named for him.

My family loves the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, their music has been a big part of the soundtrack of my life, been listening to them since I was 11-12. I love and own all 3 Will The Circle Be Unbroken CD’s. Our 3 sons listened to all our Nitty Gritty albums. On October 24th, 2012, my husband and I took our oldest son to see NGDB at this year’s beautiful old Art Deco theater, in Bellingham, the concert was excellent!!! I miss Jimmy too and John…

Amazing talent, from the author to the performers, this is a fabulous song. Found this version while looking for songs to play on a lap steel guitar, and behold! I can play every instrument in this recording. Finally found a purpose for my looper. Hey Bob! "Every man that put me here" and every other word in this tune is incredibly crafted. . .

This song has so often been sung a bit lamely at the end of all-star concerts. It's brilliant to hear it respected and performed so beautifully!

Grandpa wore his suit to dinner Nearly every day No particular reason He just dressed that way Brown necktie and a matching vest And both his wingtip shoes He built a closet on our back porch And put a penny in a burned out fuse. Chorus: Grandpa was a carpenter He built houses stores and banks Chain smoked camel cigarettes And hammered nails in planks He was level on the level And shaved even every door And voted for eisenhower 'cause lincoln won the war. Well, he used to sing me "blood on the saddle" And rock me on his knee And let me listen to radio Before we got t.v. Well, he'd drive to church on sunday And take me with him too! Stained glass in every window Hearing aids in every pew. Repeat chorus: Now my grandma was a teacher Went to school in bowling green Traded in a milking cow For a singer sewing machine She called her husband "mister" And walked real tall and pride And used to buy me comic books After grandpa died. _
