i honestly didnt want to watch this because i hate miyo more than any other characters. i hated her reveal episode that went into her backstory because i found it cheap. with most villains they can have the redemption arc but at some point if you cross a line, all hope goes out the window. she crossed that line for me by headshotting the characters while trying to play god. buuut i'll listen to give the video a fair shot and the views it deserves for such a lengthy deep dive ❤

The final battle between Rika and Satoko in Sotsu was the best thing I have ever seen in anime.

Fun fact about the animated series, the 1996 movie (first animated adaptation of the Opera House Murders) featured Kappei Yamaguchi as the voice of Kindaichi….aka, the voice actor for Shinichi Kudo from Detective Conan! I quite like his performance for Kindaichi, but I’m glad he went on to be Shinichi instead as I think both him and Taiki Matsuno do a fantastic job in their respective roles. Also, massive shoutout to the hard work of the Kindaichi Lovers and Irregular Scans teams for translating and making the anime/manga series accessible to English speaking fans, I never would’ve gotten into the series if not for them.

When you say the kindaichi case files anime doesn't have an english adaptation, do you mean it wasn't dubbed. I am from India and I watched all 148 episodes on animax, so I'm sure there is an official sub. Although, I can't find it anywhere which is a shame because there aren't any fansubs that I could find that have translated the last few episodes

Like your conclusive take because that's the likely conclusion the average viewer would get after reading Tsumihoroboshi in visual novel form or the manga(though I barely get to read any manga). As much as I love the anime, this is something it lacks horribly at to the point that I hated the themes of friendship it had especially in season 2 because I didn't understand how it all worked due to a lack of immersion and hence it made me frustrated. After reading around half of the visual novels, now I perfectly understand why friendship was such a big thing in this story and now I think Rena's characterization in Tsumihoroboshi almost perfectly encapsulates what the entire story of the Higurashi visual novel series stand for.

Really well done analysis video! Thank you for posting 🥰 Nagito's character composition and story are truly next-level writing. Each piece of his personality stacks on top of the other so perfectly. All his personality traits mix together like a cocktail! But not like your standard Manhattan or Cosmo, something more unique, something that wouldn't seem like it would work together, but ends up being the best thing you ever had! They wrote him to be the perfect person to have the ultimate luck ability. Like, imagine if someone else had the ultimate luck. What would they do with it? Would they be smart enough to utilize it like Nagito did in the final trial? How would they cope with their crazy life? I would imagine their life with all that luck would look totally different from Nagito's. But they made him so intelligent, and they made him the kind of person to try and be resilient against the torment of the constant ups and downs. I just can't get over this guy. The writers really took his story to the most awesome place they could have gone with it, too. 11/10 character 😭😭

Recently became interested in the IP after hearing about the original trilogy in a tangentially related video, and thought it looked interesting as a mecha fan. I’m also no stranger to lighter ren’ai VNs so Extra doesn’t really put me off either, and I’ve tended to like dark-ish and generally screwball VNs (Ever17 comes to mind), so I looked up for a primer on the IP and this video came up. Definitely planning to give the original trilogy a read now!

the detective manga thats even more underrated, I think, is Q.E.D: Shoumei Shuuryou by Motohiro Katou. Despite many novel adaptations, it never got an anime adaptation which is a shame.

Gou and Sotsu confirm that someone’s experience in loops or their obsession can turn them into a witch. The witch can separate or coexist within the person they formed in. Satoko and her witch are almost two different entities while Rika is still merged with hers almost the same identity. I legitimately consider Umineko as a sequel. Sometime after 1983 when “Rika “ is in her late teens or early twenties she gets fed up and her witch identity splits becomes Berkanstel, however because of her identity and link to the God Hanyuu she continues her existence as Rika and time travels in a fragment to stop a young Takano. Rika and her friends created a miracle which becomes Berkanstel title as the Witch of Miracles. She is literally the embodiment of Rika’s suffering and the only way out of it using a miracle. Since time is endless for Witches, Berkanstel befriends the Golden Witch and enjoys the events with the aura Miya family to kill her boredom.
