If that is the case then, a+6d=12...eqn1 a+32d=9...eqn2 Subtract eqn1 from eqn2 to get: 26d=-3 Divide both sides by 26 d=-3/26 Put d=-3/26 into eqn1 to get: a+6(-3/26)=12 a=12+6/13 a=165/13 The sum of the first 69 terms will be: S69=69/2[2×165/13+(69-1)×-3/26] =7866/13 =605.08 to 2 d.p

Please qtn 9 I don't understand why tan is 12/5 instead of 5/12 because it is opposite over adjacent
@FKacademy26 күн бұрын
Thanks for asking. Please, the adjacent side is 5 cm and the opposite side to the bisected angle at the center is 12 cm because the radius (hypotenus ) is the 13 cm. So Opposite/Adjacent=12/5. I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to ask if you are still not clear.

What do you do if its a 4 sided shape and not a triangle

Perhaps in will be stated in the question. So if it is a four sided shape ABCD, it will be stated whether you should construct it at A , B , C , or D.

But why quarrel? Both are right. A square root is a multivalued function over the field of complex numbers and may take on both of its values: the principal value and the opposite non-principal value as well. So √−2 = ±𝒊√2 and √−8 = ±2𝒊√2, then (√−2)×(√−8) = (±𝒊√2)×(±2𝒊√2) = ±4 = {+4; −4}, that is a set of two opposite values.
@allozovsky2 ай бұрын
And with the sum everything is even more interesting: (√−2) + (√−8) = (±𝒊√2) + (±2𝒊√2) case 1)(+ 𝒊√2) + (+2𝒊√2) = 3𝒊√2 case 2) (+𝒊√2) + (−2𝒊√2) = −𝒊√2 case 3) (− 𝒊√2) + (+2𝒊√2) = 𝒊√2 case 4) (− 𝒊√2) + (−2𝒊√2) = −3𝒊√2 so we eventually get a set of four different values for the sum.
@allozovsky2 ай бұрын
The real problem here is that the square root notation may denote different functions: 1) a real-valued square root (defined for non-negative arguments); 2) a principal complex square root (may be defined in different ways); 3) a set of all complex square roots (which makes the function multivalued). And one and the same square root symbol is used to denote all these different functions, so it's hard to tell for sure which function is implied by the root symbol.
@allozovsky2 ай бұрын
So the secret behind this debate is that Student B simply took different branches for the first and the second root: (+𝒊√2)×(−2𝒊√2) = 4 or (−𝒊√2)×(+2𝒊√2) = 4 Is this possible and is this legitimate? Well, yes, as long as we are doing complex analysis, where functions are essentially multivalued.
