This is the first time that I've watched your videos. You seem to be a genuine, down to earth, relatable, and creative human. To me, your energy is similar to Michel Janse, who I follow. She would be a great person for you to connect with, if you are able, since she also is a creative person and does youtube full time.

i definitely think it probably has to do more with the fact that you’re not in college anymore and has NOTHING to do with you or the quality of your videos! when i was in school, i pretty much only watched college youtubers because i found those vlogs motivating and relatable. now that i’m in post grad and working in corporate, i prefer watching youtubers that work 9-5s, enjoy the same hobbies at me, etc. because now that’s what’s relatable and motivating to me! i just wanted to give my view on it in case it’s any help to know that i don’t think it’s because of the quality or effort you put in. you are doing GREAT and as someone who found you during your college years, i’ll be sticking around :)

Hi Abby, I’m catching up on your vlogs today while I work. I came out of big 4 also, specifically in insurance tax which was super niche trying to apply to other tax/accounting roles. I got a ton of nos for not specializing in what the job description stated but finally a company said yes yet I had zero experience in!! It was really hard to stay motivated but what i’ve learned from this experience is that what is meant to be will be and all those nos were a favor to me bc i love my job now and my team is amazing!

I don’t know if you’ve heard of the CMA or if you’d even want to take another exam 😬 But it’s a certified accountant less focused on tax, audit, etc. and more focused on management, manufacturing, etc. Might be a good way to bridge that gap between your experience and learning about the other side of finance/accounting and being more marketable towards that

Have you thought about outsourcing vlog editing so you can focus on your other videos? It may help with not being exposed multiple times to the same thing since you’re living this life, especially because we all LOVE your vlogs! You could prolly find someone who’s freelance and just getting started so it could build their portfolio and it won’t be that expensive. They could study your content a bit to understand your style and then you would just have to watch through and give edits to approve!

I’m sorry your job hunt isn’t coming through as quickly as you’d hoped!! I am also an accountant and work with revenue in tech. I specialized my skill set in ASC-606 and found that the pay is usually a bit higher than GL or Tax accountants! I’d love to share my career experience if you’re ever interested. I didn’t do Big 4 or my CPA, but I’ve had really great success in Tech/SaaS with revenue accounting as my specialty!
