Dealership said I have a very small leak near the top screw of the timing cover. I thought to myself "why don't I tighten it", well I broke the screw doing this. The screw is loose and can't be pulled out, I put some RTV in there to keep it from moving. Dealer ship wants 550 bucks for this, part is 65.00 on FCP euro. Do you think I will be okay with the top sealed with RTV?

I have excessive oil on the spark plug in cylinder 1. Do you think the valve cover could leak into it since it’s on the side of the engine as opposed to it being on top on a regular car? Thanks for uploading this.

You can look at the OEM one but it’s expensive and a lot harder to install, I don’t believe your head unit has an RCA input for the video feed so you may not be able to do it with that head unit.

Ended up wrapping it black, fits in there good even when wrapped so looks just like it did before now

I have an Audi 2017 a3 quadro plus with an OIL Lekage oil pan and upper timing gasket; how much does this cost material and labor?

Cost wise I’m not to sure my guess from a shop it may be pretty expensive the oil pan is a lot easier to change that the upper timing gasket. I have changed one on an A3 before it just took as while as we used RTV instead of a gasket on the oil pan. But you may have to call around and try to get the best offer from shops

Curious if it uses only the provided mic or if it’ll hook up to the built in mic? Also, how does the compass work on the cluster? Do you need to use the provided gps unit?

On the cluster I’m not sure it was a stock option, but yes I have a GOS antenna for it on the head unit, and it comes with another mic to but the one on it was fine for me

Yeah it turns on and off with the key, it just has a stand by mode of a couple hours that makes it quick turn on and off but if it sees your battery is low it won’t do that and you can also turn it off all together in the settings

Hi, i have few questions if anyone could answer me i would appreciate it. 1. Does controls on right steering wheels remain on cluster(changing to fuel consumption, speed etc..)? 2. Do i need to place gps antena if my previous multimedia was RNS 310 do i already have gps? 3. Also i have builtin microphone on rooftop can i use that one instead of the one provided by multimedia? 4. Also i have usb under armrest which i believe is connected on the back of my current multimedia can i do the same thing with this one? 5. Is it possible to remove rear camera lines and leave only oem camera lines? 6. Does it remove compass and info on cluster?

Hey, just wanted to update you. Job went perfectly. Did drop one screw, but was able to recover. I picked up on a technique you used; you had used electrical tape to keep the torx bit in that socket. I did this very thing as my torx bit kept sliding out. This saved my bacon. I ended up replacing the main gasket and the inner and outer cam magnet gaskets. It's been about a week. Cover is looking dry as a bone. Thank you again!

I did this same job because I had an oil leak. I took a look at my cam cover and it was covered in oil. I think a bad PCV caused excessive pressure in the crankcase which caused the cam gaskets to leak. Changed out PCV and all cam gaskets.

@@frod70 This is what I'm experiencing at 82K miles. I've replaced the pcv, removed an MST Performance intake tube and turbo inlet pipe and returned those to stock. Next I need to do replace the upper timing cover and all involved gaskets. Thinking of replacing the cam magnets too...

Hey sorry just saw this comment, but yes was getting a leak from the cam magnet closest to the firewall, and also from the gasket off that main cover that was hitting the exhaust so was smelling burnt oil. And I found that catch can kit on marketplace for $200 bucks so that was my main reason for doing that because I hear people have had problems with PCV as well.

@@asianangler mine was leaking from both and you have to remove the cam magnet to get to the upper timing gasket so I would say it’s definitely worth it to replace them all

Hey no problem! I run 18x9+35 with 225/40/18 with 2 degrees of camber in the rear which you can get with the OEM camber bolt, and I have neuspeed black lowering springs on it

truly appreciate your videos...I bought the vwa12s-6g and just installed it yesterday on my mk6 GTI and we had the same factory Delphi radio. I don't have the HVAC things visible on my factory head unit and wouldn't expect top on the new one. But was seems to not work for me is the steering wheel controls. They just don't at all and I can't figure it out. Also, the compass in the main dash console glitches out and entirely disappears, but when it's there it seems accurate. I have tried calibrating per the instructions but no dice I am not worried about the compass but I am super perplexed about the steering wheel controls. Any thoughts about what that may be? Also, did you end up plugging that other fakra, the green one, into anything? I know in Europ it's the DAB stuff but not here in the states.

There is a microphone built into the head unit itself that I thought was good enough for me so I didn’t put in the other mic, but yes it uses that built in mic for Siri, unless you plug in the external then it uses that
