Great song! Mike what the hell? You looked great at this time in your life! How do you have everything and throw it all away for plastic surgery? Your nose? Come the hell on! And the fact you did not like being Black” Now African Americans may have a fit cuz I said the truth but it’s true! And yet Black ppl have a fit by not admitting Mike didn’t like being Black

Just can't believe how he died though at 48 some say respiratory failure and some say heart attack and that it was in front of his friends but I guess no one really knows how he died but he was still very young to be going through all of that some even said he turned into a alcoholic after his wife divorced him don't know which one is true though just throwing all the articles I read on google out there in case anybody knows the real story of what actually happened to him

Hey, Gen Z here, Who is Lenny Bruce? (Please don’t come after me the oldest reference I know is hardy and laurel and they were 20’s funny men)

Fellow Gen Z here. From what I found, he was a standup comedian back in the 1960s whose routine was, at the time, considered pretty obscene.

I remember this song , very well. It was a very popular in the 70's .Allan Sherman was a an extremely funny and creative, clean cut comedian. I often wondered if he is still living .Tim.

I asked my Google Mini. It said he passed away in 1973 at age 48 😢😢😢 due to alcoholism, obesity and respiratory failure (that part I got from Wikipedia).

😊 It may not earn loud belly laughs but it is funny and sweet it brough back memories of drooping off my daughter at her FIRST sleep away ca5mp. My husband and I almost turned the car around. How would she survive an outhouse on the edge of woods full of wolves and bears? Her eyes filling with tears not bc we were leaving but bc of strict anti electronics rules. No cells phones, no iPad nothing. 😂😂😂

Today 11/24/2023(Black Friday) is three days after the 50th anniversary of Allan Sherman’s passing. He died the day before Thanksgiving in 1973, plus nine days short of his 49th birthday. Maybe both of these reasons are why they used to play this song on the radio this time of year, over Thanksgiving-the anniversary of his passing and for his birthday. 50 years have now come and gone since he joined Rock and roll heaven. May he RIP. :) There was also that TV commercial advertising some product-may have been Downy liquid, or soap-and a girl away at college writing her parents saying how much she missed the product in question, also sung to the melody of Dance of the Hours. It may have been inspired by this.

Warmth to my heart of happier times. My family of four kids and two parents would listen to this album on our console stereo and laugh with shared joy. I am the last of my family alive. Thank you for this loving memory of my family.

He was a Weird Al Yankovic way before Weird Al was. He made quite a few best selling song parody records in the early 1960's. I owned 3 or 4 of them and loved them when I was a kid. Stan Freberg's song parody albums from the late 1950's and early '60's were brilliant also. And before these guys, we had the amazing Spike Jones, whom i call "the Frank Zappa of the 1940's". 😎
