Thank you for your comment...flight later this fall...Flight is like sex in a marriage...it's what in-between that really matters. The Beauty of Skyboss is on the ground...in the air she is just another Blue Airplane....But...to be an airplane it must fly....at least that is the common belief....so if conditions are right we will see if she can lift her 74 pounds and stretch her wings when the weather cools and the air is more dense...in Texas....

Well, just bought a couple RC boat kist to ppay with. They are called ZippKits. Made in the USA nothing fancy but want to do them right. I was wondering after I get these machines built with out spending a arm and a leg I would like to build a electric ugly stick and a NITRO or 10-15CC Gas Carbon cub. Just something little to take to a soccer field to HAVE FUN with. If it crashes, I can just go and buy parts for it. A sea plane would be cool as well yeah it could sink. But the thing is, water is softer than dirt or asphalt in my opinion. Hangar 9 is a good company. Just wanna have fun build nothing elaberate and just enjoy life is that hard to ask for? Thanks WS!

Thanks again...I wish there was a way to show you the details...the cockpit is exactly like the one that flew in NY. The owner Jeff, supplied me with detailed photos of the insides...every inch, and we duplicated it even to the seat cushion pattern and color....our aim in building Skyboss was, to make a "Real small Corsair" so anyone viewing it at the field could actually see what a real one looks like.....not just something that resembled a Corsair from 20 feet away... We came pretty close....I say we because, my Wife designed and printed all the specialty parts that are really difficult to duplicate any other way. The Tamiya kit was invaluable in this effort........ Thanks for commenting...

I do wish however I was able to give you closeups of the plane...Cockpit...details on the wings and fuselage...etc... the plane started off as a very basic CARF kit ... all silver...all the factory details were removed and the plane was refinished and detailed to the standards of a Tamiya 1/48th scale F4U-1D, and actual photos of Skyboss supplied by it's owner....so truly one of a kind...Super Scale FG-1D Corsair. @@RTD1947 I'm a former U.S. Marine Corps officer who grew up loving the F-4U in addition to being a WW-II Pacific Theater history buff. But of course, I never flew the Corsair being another "Baby Boomer" and missing WW-II altogether. I have to believe that I would keep it on the ground, showing it off where people can enjoy it close-up. Most scale models are overpowered and don't fly worth a darn at "scaled speeds", anyway.

@RTD1947
@RTD1947 4 ай бұрын
the wings lock via the main jackscrew ( that lifts and lowers the wing) using a over center cylinder at one end...the doors you see are triggered by the cylinder being driven into a locking notch both up and down... as for the fuel pump...that is the only way to go...it supplies a constant pressure to the carb. and any excess pressure is returned to the tank in a constant circulation. Once I turn on the pump, there is constant fuel, at a specific pressure, (.3 bar) being delivered to the carb regardless of RPM. Thanks for your comment and question.

No Pump Gas ... keep plugs clean, tappets in adjustment, and the mixture as lean as you can...35 to 1 oil ... I use Dominator oil... Use a fixed pitch 30/14 3 blade prop and don't scrimp on anything. Still strange the number 5 o’clock cyl runs much cooler that the others, but yes I keep it at about 3700 on the ground. I’ve got my jets if I want to go fast, this is my nice prop scale plane😊

@ohrbachsbvmhanger9912 It's important the engine in the air, DOES NOT unload above 4500...You have dozens of moving parts in that engine that all must work together...the videos of guys with a screaming moki...don't have it very long..before they experience a RUD....also...Fuel...do not use pump gas...find VP Racing fuels I use C9 or the 4 stroke without oil...this is extremely important...The cylinders will vary in temp...not a problem...fuel distribution to ALL 5 jugs is not equal...just make sure they are all HOT! Its very easy to flood a plug even when running...guys using pump gas especially with ethanol, experience ignition issues...hence they feel the need for a hotter ignition...Ie: CH ignitions... but the gas is causing other problem that will lead to a RUD... Hopes this helps with your Jewel....Oh...and do not use a electric starter on the engine...Hand start like you saw me do...and let the engine warm up at least a minute before going above 2,000. And if you are getting black tar from the exhausts...it's running too rich. Unless you pump the engine, keep it slightly rich on idle....
