Years later and I still get chills!!! Ugh I love The Unsleeping City so much and Kingston is THE BEST. Such a tragic figure that was able to have his dream come true thanks to a friend that loves him. 🥹😭

It’s so rare to see Divine Intervention actually WORK…who knew that the only way to even begin to heal from this existence was to watch New York City answer the call to start healing itself (in a way, at least).

I want somebody just to make long video of Brennan’s monologues over the years, his improv monologues are just a work of art!

The truest anti-hero, is trying their best to hero, and finds themselves consistently failing. This is an example of a frustrated, tired, plea, from someone who knows and has seen what.... happens. At some point, you don't want to "win" you just want to... be able to make sure it doesn't require shovels and ladders to gather limbs etc. And all the therapy for every witnesses.

4:50 It's been over a year, I am scrolling through, and I didn't see anyone bring this up. Even though Evan doesn't recognize the spell (so to speak) the fact that Aabria Iyengar says that Evan feels a "Jovian Pressure". My man's summoned JUPITER to crush his opponent and Evan shrugged it off like it was nothing. Yeah, I'mma quit even before he shadow-realms my ass.

Kingston Brown, conceptually, might be my favorite Cleric in any TTRPG and honestly, probably any fantasy fiction. The idea that this character doesn't his divine power from any god or spirit or celestial being but from the *city itself*. The *Spirit* of where he lives. Of all of the people there, of all of the history around the people, the buildings, the land, the culture, all of it. That's what gives him his power, his spiritual magic. It's just so fucking cool and unique and even kind of inspirational. I love it.

Same. I like the idea of cleric that serves community over deity. I used to be in a church and has turn agnostic. A lil bit of religious trauma there but ive been in discussion with other people that used to be in church or listen to podcast that went through the same. Church for some people is peoples wish to become community. I think more clerics should be more community oriented over a certain deity.

The cleric I play in my current campaign is a life cleric of a home and hearth goddess, similar to Hestia but not virginal. His major focus is creating shelters and communal living spaces for all classes and races, focusing on charity and the importance of family, both found and blood. For a while, he had a bit of a martyr complex but once he learned that he too deserves a community and family to surround himself with, he became much happier and more motivated to protect and save the world.

You know, I've seen Brennan's 'What do you want me to tell your family' bit in reels many times now, but I had not seen how well he truly backed it up with the eldritch horror-level events that followed with the perfect roles and the having to reel it in as to not eviscerate his opponent... colour me literally terrified.

It’s the back and forth of Aabria trying to hold to the “no pull punches” while Brennan has a character who rolls ridiculously high at all times. A: This magic is weird. Try to beat an 18. B: I got 28, but I’ll make it 30. 😏. A: you’re happy about this, and that concerns me, bc you just did almost double power on a “no pulled punches”. TRY to roll this lower match him, or you will ERASE this kid and your character will die. If you don’t hit 10, you’re screwed. B: K. I roll a 4, but luckily I’m broken so I made it a 10. 😊 A: 😱

My heroes are normally complete badasses. Batman. John Constantine. Sherlock Holmes. Conan the Barbarian. Gandalf. My boy Optimus Prime. People (and robots) with the power to ruin your life just by thinking about it for a few seconds. When I saw this in the original Actual Play, I shit myself. I rewound it and watched it forty more times. I laughed. Tears formed in my eyes. This was the most epic moment in all of any form of media I've ever consumed. Brennan was Sephiroth in this moment. Then I saw Gilear in the armor of sin, and I had to change my pants a second time.
