I like the fact that Oda seems to have drawn a parallel line between this fantasy world and its racism and the civil Rights movements of the '60s. I can see the connection in the two different camps that fought for change back then. With the queen, I see MLK's movement of peace and non-violence. While Fisher tiger seems closer to the groups associated with Malcolm X. That's just my observation. What do you think?

Even tho this arc isn't one of the best what makes it so memorable is the backstory and the ending pretty impactful

Nooo not the Brook slander! (sorry for long rant oop) I do get where you're coming from but I definitely disagree. Brook was THE most useful one in Thriller Bark, he brought the information of salt purifying zombies, he also informed what happened to Luffy co, he explains how the shadow stealing works, he brought salt for the fight against Oars etc. He purified zombies left and right and was only losing to his own shadow that was buffed by Ryuma's body, which honestly fair enough. But you can't deny without him and his information, they would've lost by having Sunny pushed out to the sea with the monster trio in while Franky, Robin and the weakling trio would've suffered the same fate as Lola's crew. And if we look at Sabaody which was the arc where the crew is shown how unprepared they are for the New World, there was not much fighting and the big ones they lost, for Brook the arc was interacting with the crew as it is his first time in 50 years out of the Florian Triangle AND with people? Let the old man enjoy the amusement park lol After that we next see Brook in Hungeria where he DID help out the people who "summoned" him, even tho it got him kidnapped LMAO I love Brook and analyzing his character to understand why he acts like he does.

You're also forgetting about the hordy duel... Fishmen Island showed us; fishmen are multiple times stronger underwater. That means not only was Zoro at a disadvantage, but Hordy was at a huge advantage as well, and Zoro still wrecked his ass with one sword style.

Hordy doesnt have haki, its just roided up fishman strength. Haki is pretty much visual from here on out.

I think one of the more interesting aspects of Hordy is comparing him with Arlong. You may notice how they compare and differ throughout the arc, but one of the biggest differences is how they treat their men. Arlong, evil as he may be, still loved his crew. When Zoro took out a bunch of them Arlong was genuinely upset. Hordy, however, when attacked by Zoro just uses one of his guys as a human (err fishman?) shield and tosses him aside after he fulfilled his purpose. Arlong may be evil, but Hordy is an actual psychopath and a terrible captain. There's a lot more to say, but I'm sure you'll see it for yourself eventually!

Love the way Oda takes such an important topic and makes it his own in the One Piece world. Super interesting way of talking about these issues, Fisher Tiger, Otohime, Koala, Jinbei and Arlong are all great characters to show different sides to this conflict and make it more realistic too. Probably one of my favorite flashbacks in the story for sure.

I also think Vander Decken is as bad as Absalom if not worse but so far there has been no moment where his actions have been played for laughs like what happened at one point with Absalom so I think it doesn't feel off. He is just a straight up asshole and an incel

Zoro is such a badass, just casually one shotting the villain fishman leader while being underwater as well. Luffy is so strong too it's nice to see him so unbothered and confident most of the time right now.
