Great stuff as always Chris. Yes the beautiful sound of the chop stopping 🙂 In context it is wonderful but a good way to get the vocalist, mandolin player, drummer and even the damn banjo player upset with you if overdone or sometimes done at all. Nice variations on the redhead throughout the vid.

What kind of unprofesional music circles do you move in where they don't communicate even the song or the key that they're going to be on? That's not only unprofessional, but also exceptionally rude.
@TheFiddleChannel10 күн бұрын
Yes, sometimes that's the case. But when you've been working with someone for decades and absolutely understand and trust one another, sometimes it's fun to leave the other guessing!
@josesolismusic10 күн бұрын
@@TheFiddleChannel I think it's very different someone with whom you have been working for decades, than someone you just met, which is what you're referring in the video.

Hey there, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this. Really helped, much appreciated. If possible could you send me the sheet music for fisherman's bules, calling from Australia. Thanks.
I’ve been wanting to learn how to “let loose” on the fiddle but felt stuck for some time now. The hardest part is that I don’t know what I need to learn. I’m so happy to have found this channel because it has given me direction. These videos are golden! I’m so excited to go try these licks 😊

Jazzgrass musicians, especially Vassar, had several full collaborations with respected jazz musicians. But western swing never found respectability among jazz musicians, until recent years with a couple of jazz musicians' vanity projects that revisited the western swing that they grew up with (and left), like Buck Pizzarelli collaborating with Doug Jernigan. Or Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio, after he found respectability in NYC. I'm guessing that traditional jazz instruments were largely musically incompatible with western swing's pedal steel guitar, despite its acknowledged difficulty to master.

I'm a big fan of your channel and hate to bring bad news but Mark was playing guitar on that track, not fiddle. On a positive note, you've done a very solid interpretation of the work done by Woody Paul, which is still no small accomplishment. I always found Woody's style hard to imitate but you got this one pretty good.
@TheFiddleChannel15 күн бұрын
Oops, sorry! I heard they welcomed Mark on stage, then we get a dynamite fiddle solo. I jumped to the wrong conclusion! Glad you could put me straight!
