in the future, if you 3d scan/reverse engineer other things, you might find Zeiss Inspect FREE aka "GOM Inspect" worth the learning curve. You now need to install their free trial version first, then let it expire to be left with the free features only....

Really cool ! Your video randomly appeared in my feed! Glad I've watched it, because I've never even known about lightweight PLA. Would it work well for something like a drone frame ?

Is there a printing part?
@shanester1832Ай бұрын
Very cool. The add-on is something I've been wanting but didn't know it existed. A bit off topic, but do you have a video, or can you point to something that goes over finer points, tips on exporting objs? I'm finally to a point where I'm ready to print but my perfectly smooth models have little wobbles when they're turned to obj.
@redbaronrcАй бұрын
Good idea. You have control over the density of the mesh in plasticity when exporting. The default settings are a bit too low. I'll add this to my list.

Next he needs to learn stacking :)
@redbaronrcАй бұрын
Is that actually a thing?!
@_TarzakАй бұрын
You can fill the build plate on the Z axis and create supports from each character. Some potential downsides are more support marks for post work, and the print taking considerably longer due to there being more supports. If you can keep a flow of support removal, finishing, priming, painting. Filling the whole bottom plate will be quicker and more efficient. If your looking to set it and go to sleep then filling the z axis makes sense. Hope this helps!
@ZaydmeАй бұрын
This is a resin 3D printer, not the same principles as FDM. Adding more layers makes the print take longer, while having a 100 on the same level with minimal layers takes as fast as printing one. So it doesn't make sense to stack them or at least it doesn't benefit the print/cleaning time.

I want to comment on high polygon count mesh models which I actally tried this plugin with a while back. I tried to get a few 250k mesh models into Rhino and then to CAM software for wood working, and the only way to do that was to use "Instant Meshes"and "Meshlab". Meshlab to reduce number of vertices to a lower lever without changing geometry too much and to calculate quads and close holes. Then "Instant Mesh" software which is free to calculate faces and further drastically reduce number of faces which then can be converted to SubD in Rhino (I use Rhino, but looking into plasticity recently for fast modelling of smaller objects).

“Jet” is a type of engine. Not a type of aircraft. The P-51 had a piston engine. Not a jet engine. It was not a jet powered aircraft. To call it a “jet” is incorrect.

@AviatorOfficial-tz1zmАй бұрын
No. Y’all are dumb. It’s not a jet since it doesn’t use the famous “jet engines”. Instead, it uses a propeller to move it forward (and not a jet engine), example: P-51 mustang: Propeller plane (prop plane) Me-262 Jet fighter (used jet engines)

Thank you for sharing your knowledge RedBaron. Just an FYI. the IGES import in Plasticity isn't available on the free license version. I bought the plugin for Blender and tried exporting a relatively simple shape (front face of a grip on an aircraft yoke for a flight sim 3d print). The resulting iges file at 91MBs has just over 46000 separate faces, not one continuous surface and it's basically not useable if pulled back into Fusion 360, though I might be missing something with my limited experience. Fusion just keeps the in-progress bar on screen and the CPU is doing nothing (18 core CPU). Eventually the model loads but I am unable to stitch or merge the edges into one surface within the "Surface" workspace in Fusion.
@redbaronrcАй бұрын
You are correct! Plasticity studio version is required. The files can be heavy. I imported the model in sections. With toggle face mode on, I am able to merge faces in plasticity. There are also subdivision surface modifiers in blender that can simplify the model to some extent prior to exporting.

But im getting there 🙂 unfortunaly i bought the byme-D instead of the byme-A, from what i have read it wont work on a plane like the extra 300, do you agree with that? 🙂 I guess next project will be an edf plane lol.

really cool if you need that "as it is" but if you plan to modify that geometry or working on it "for real" you will find that it's impossible to work with that many patches that probably even include degenerate faces for which you will go crazy fixing them
