I'm trying to plunge my toilet. It's got this setup. When I push the plunger in, the air comes out of the red flapper. I've never had a tough time unclogging any toilet. I'd rather not rent a machine and pull the toilet. Any advice?

When the flappers leak and the warranty expires, I have had good success swapping the left and right silicone flappers for each other. lasts another year or two.

Thank you. My problem has been the red flapper closing too soon and therefore not completely flushing. I see your model is different than mine - the red flapper has a chain connecting the float part, mine has a 3 inch (or so) plastic bar connecting the flapper. The toilet we have is the 2nd one - the first was under warranty. This one worked fine until it didn't. Any insights?

After seeing your video I reached down in and gave the flappers a feel. One had an obvious bubble, not allowing it to seal. I found the number for American standard 855-815-0004. They warrant a one time complimentary replacement parts since I did not have the original reciept. the warranty with original receipt is 10 years. They called it ghost flushing, hopefully that fixes the issue of constant water draining and refilling. Thank you from a husband that was always hearing it from his wife😂

Very helpful. Thank you. I have a rental property with these European concealed, partial overlay hinges. I had no ideal how to measure the overlay. You answered that question. I have one of my properties with these types of hinges. Seems renters put a lot of wear and tear on this type of hinge. Never have such issues on my other properties with the traditional cabinet hings. I know if I replace cabinets in a rental in the future, there is no way I will have cabinets installed with this hinge design. They won't hold up to renter's kids yanking on doors or folks leaning down on open doors.

Fantastic video!!! Thank so much for doing this one!!! Was hoping that the small compact compression crimper would do BNC. I'll probably get the bigger brother of it... which is the next one up and one below the other tank compression crimper you've got. Do you have a good source for good+solid+reliable Compression Connectors at reasonable cost??? Thanks again!!! Well done!!

Thank you. I was about to purchase replacement parts on Amazon but came across your video. I contacted American Standard and they're sending me replacement parts for free for both of my toilets that I installed back in Nov 2018. Toilet is warranted for 10 years. I did register on American Standard but they didn't ask for that info. Explained to them what I did to try to fix it but was unsuccessful. Customer Rep immediately asked me for my shipping address. No hassle whatsoever.

I have three of these toilets. I had the issue with just one. One flapper occasionally gets tangled up with the other when it cannot close causing the toilet to run and run. It doesn't happen often. Sometimes a handle jiggle will work and other times I have to remove the tank lid and manually untangle to chains so the flappers will close. It has the red toggle bar not the black. The other two identical toilets do not seem to have the issue.

This is the exact problem I was having except juggling the handle rarely fixed it. It was very infrequent but it hasn't happened since I made this video replacing the teeter bar.

@@TomBuildsStuff I called American Standard Tech Support. They walked me through several steps to test the functionality. They determined that there was an internal leak in the toilet, a known defect. So they sent me an entire new toilet base, free of charge. I replaced the old toilet with the new base and it has worked perfectly!

I've never had that problem as described with mine (and I have the exact same toilet). Never had a stuck flapper, so maybe they did engineer that out with the production models, since you said apparently had a "pre-production" model. I am currently experiencing a slow leak. Tried washing the silicon flappers with soap and water thinking it could just be the build-up of "gunk" over the course of the last several years I've had this thing. It helped (the leak is much slower), but it sill leaks. Guess will just have to replace the silicon flapper seals.

@@TomBuildsStuff Yeah, I ended having to order the replacement flappers off of Amazon (none of the "home improvement" or "hardware stores" had any in stock, so off to Ye ol' Amazon). After replacement, and everything is now good. No more leaks. One thing I did notice. After I replaced the flappers and more close inspection, I noticed there were just a couple of small "bubbles" in the old flappers that prevented them from properly sealing. I "lanced" the bubbles with a sewing needle and they disappeared where you could not even tell if anything was wrong, so it makes me wonder if I could've used the old ones again after that and saved the nearly $25 I paid for there replacements. I was tempted to put them back and see, but did not bother. I guess if this happens again, I will try that before ordering new ones.

My problem is that the pump I can hear working and only a trickle comes out. The jets are not spraying, but the rear windscreen jet is pumping just fine. What could be the issue?
@miggyslice
@miggyslice Жыл бұрын
The issue isn't the teeter bar it's that the silicone flappers get blisters/air pockets that fill with water and cause them to not seal good. The blisters create the opening which has nothing to do with the teeter bar. The toilet would be a perfect one if not for the flappers blistering.

I'd love one of these stands (key phrase: "I want one")! So clever. :) I am honestly a big fan of the Nespresso capsules - for both OL and VL. The Columbian Starbucks capsules are definitely a favourite. I would love to get into 3D printing but I need to do a lot more research/learn a lot more first.
