This whole trend is embarrassing. Why don't we as a people have more self respect and esteem.

Im from Jamaica and when I was younger, I used to believe that if I were to go to America I needed to have basically any other hair type other than the 4c, 4b, 4a texture because I hadn't seen many black Americans in my childhood movies with my hair type (4c).

I always thought it had to be long and loose and that would be considered pretty or acceptable 🙆‍♀️

People buy a million products with the hopes of changing their hair texture or achieve type 3 hair. I’ve seen it and it’s sad.

When you are a black woman, you are not allowed to be complex or multi dimensional. You are only a colour, not a full human being. As a black person, I am always seen as walking caricature. Black people also despise quiet, introverted black people and see them as pathetic and weak or snobby yet those of other races are simply allowed to be human and free to be who they are without judgment.

This is because you need to be a WOMAN first, before "black". You are you first before your skin hue For anyone who's identity is based on your skin color, I feel sorry for you. You're trapped

I agreed until you mention homosexuality. It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with brown skin. We are Born in our skin. We choose who we have sex with.

Why is everybody else’s natural hair acceptable and/or beautiful, but ours is not. I rebuke that woman that said I can’t wear my NATURAL hair to her event. I say goodbye to anybody who thinks my NATURAL hair isn’t professional or NORMAL. I have no f**k left for women the same skin tone as me or women whose MOTHERS have the same hair texture as mine and try to bring us down based solely on our hair!! Do you know how ridiculous you sound?! Stand down and grow up! Thank you for your video, very empowering and I felt a lot of what you said. In heart and experience. I hope for a better future for our children.

The comment that makes me laugh is when black women say "you have a nice head shape to wear your hair natural " Since when does head shape determine if you rock natural hair or fake hair 😂

A lot of this isn’t being an introvert. A lot of it is just narcissism.

Just wear your own hair, set a good example and think of all the money you’ll save. Also the men say they don’t like it. They want to be able to touch your head and hair. Especially during intimate moments. They don’t want a wig flying off in the middle of an encounter, that just kills the moment.

I can really relate to your story. Like, the "nobody to hold you accountable" point really spoke to me. When COVID hit, mess hit the fan. I broke down. That's when I should have left school. But I wanted to jug along and try. I got diagnosed with depression and was put on meds. And things get better...for a little. But eventually I left college, which left me so ashamed. I'm back in school now (2 years later) and when it comes to work, sometimes, I can't just do it. Imagine a "do school work" lever in the mind. That lever isn't pulled until the last minute. And it pisses me off. I'm trying to do things step at a time, but man that mess is hard. The amount of times I sat at my desk staring at my laptop and doing nothing is insane. Even getting ready to study exhausts me. Powering up my computer, getting my books, setting up my notes, etc just makes me mentally tired. Ughhhhhh. Stuff sucks. But I'm trying to see about psychiatrist. Because yah girl is at her breaking point.

I can soooo relate. I did the most ADHD thing ever: I forgot I was diagnosed. Seriously. Just like you, as soon as I got to college, everything fell apart. After pretty much flunking out of school, I was desperate and went to see a psychologist at my school’s disability office. The result? “Oh, you have ADHD and dyscalculia.” Well that was in 2011. I didn’t get diagnosed by my own doctor until 2022, ELEVEN YEARS later. I struggled all through my twenties because I genuinely forgot that I had ADHD. And yes, the hardest part that I come to grips with is always “why didn’t anyone else catch this sooner?!” Culturally, Black people (I can only speak from the Black American perspective) typically shun things that have to do with mental illness or disability. We either don’t address it or it’s “they’re a little slow” or “lazy” or whatever other negative connotation you want to use. I wish there was more understanding about ADHD and how it specifically affects Black women because there’s sooo much to unpack there.

People have to realize that you need to be an already successful black woman with a hard wig in order to get a rich white man. They wear bad wigs because they are working in corporate. It’s really easy to get a rich man if you’re a rich woman.

I keep it easy with washing every 4-5 days, using products with Silicones to detangle, and braiding or twisting my hair in 3 different (simple) styles. I could probably go longer for washing if I didn't work outside sweating so much.

i hated being introverted so bad i thought i had a genuine problem, it was never so easy for me to be completely outgoing even with my family and the comments that were made by them did not help at all, my wish to change just did the opposite and i couldn’t help it anymore so i just own it. Now i see they just project themselves on me and is just sad seeing grown ass adults talking abt a 10 years old as a selfish and ungrateful person, i can’t forgive them yet, so i’ll just continue being myself bc that’s enough torture for them .

We need to take control of our representation and our narratives in media. It's the only way. People don't have black friends and it shows. They ONLY get their information from media. It's lazy and it sucks but we need more 4D representation of black people. It's now affecting our work lives and our earning potential. We can't be quiet or depressed or shy or scared or thinking or observing or actively listening or simply waiting for our turn to speak because we're black and we're SUPPOSED to be annoying. Introverted black people will get reprimanded for not being aggresive enough while getting penalized for being aggressive. It's the most exhausting things ever.

Plus, when certain black & brown men are artistic, ( eitha play an instrument, do creative writing, or draw/ paint), but try excelling in those areas, to benefit our careers, certain folks tell us, like, "You should work more with people," or, "You need to get to know more people", or, "You are a pushover". Well, what if we need to be introverted, to go against thuggish, or somewhat dangerous, or gossipy/ toxic masculine stereotypes?

I personally LOVE being alone in my 20s. It's such a great way to learn yourself and love yourself. Personal growth is best done alone, so you dont have distraction. I'm lucky enough to be a socialite. So lack of friendship hasnt been hard for me. But, advice for my intovert people. Speak up and speak out! You can even outright ask people what their interests are. EVERYONE has their community! But your community won't know you're missing if you don't put yourself on a milk carton, ya know? Don't be afraid. Friendship is like a closed door. It'll stay closed unless you grab the handle and open it! I believe in you all! And guess what, you have a friend right here, ME! ❤🩷🤎
