I'm always going grey man. I dress in basic clothes, even for work. I don't speak about what I'm doing to anyone, including my family. They are all so focussed on themselves, I'm usually just the person they info dump on and aren't interested in hearing what I have to say. That used to annoy me, but now I take it as a blessing. When others are talking about themselves, they don't ask questions of you, so you don't have to curate your personal information. You just keep quiet. Bliss! When I add to my preps, I go to different stores on different days and mix things up quite a lot. I also pay cash for as much as I can. I don't have any store loyalty cards and if any of the retail employees mention how they've seen me before, or comment on how much stuff I'm buying, I go to a different location for that store and wait a few weeks before I return. That's happened to me a few times and it's freaked me out and what's prompted me to to deeper into grey man. I also go to self serve checkouts wherever I can find them. I'm not paranoid and I don't ever think that way. I'm private and I like keeping my business to myself. And I only want to be noticed when it's important for me to be noticed, or when I decide I want to be noticed. Apart from that, I just want to operate within the world without being bothered.

What about the advise that when a house is dark it's a target for would be thieves thinking no one is home?
@TheUrbanSentinelChannel19 сағат бұрын
Under normal conditions true. A house that's dark and you can peek in the windows and see into it (TV, laptop, jewelry etc) but a house that has blackout windows and a potential for the occupant to put a curious thief face down for a dirt nap 😬. A house that IS empty is a safer place to break into than a house that SEEMS empty. The more inconvenient or risky a simple thing is, the less a person that just wants a quick reward is willing to do it.

I got that same curtain set in a bathroom. I tell my man for both safety and to keep hot sunlight out he needs to dress these windows better. No sheer white curtain pulled open and that’s it. You have far more control with blinds, sheer curtain than a blackout over it all. I know he hats the idea of a dark house but a bare window isn’t doing him no favors neither other than seeing out and everybody can see you looking out! It’s better to see out but not be seen and have control over the amount of light and eyes coming in than it is to have no contact over any of it. The house is much cooler in the summer and no prying eyes then deciding he’s home I’ll interrupt what’s he’s doing just because of the one time he home early. He got a grown child next door that seems to think all his time belongs to her to unload her child, his grand child on him in the middle of him trying to cut a tree down, wash the boat with a power washer, lay down a driveway. You name it, his almost 30 year only daughter thinks that’s the perfect time to send her 6 yr old over! Drives me f’ing insane! She moping but can’t do that with a 6 yr old or a 30 yr old fiancé but expect her 60 yr old still working father to be able to drive a heavy truck pulling heavy equipment around the state, come home and watch her 6 yr old while he’s trying to replace a wall AC that weighs more than he dose! Anyhow, I’m glad he listened to my simple fixes eventually and we’re better off for it.

Great tip, thanks! Seems obvious, but it honestly never occurred to me. I was going to try and use blankets and bedspreads, if I had to, but those are obviously a lot heavier so I wasn’t quite sure on how to secure them so they’d stay up, and secure the edges. I also didn’t stop to think about not showing any light at all I’m that situation. Thanks for the video. 👍

Great idea & it’s cheap. Thank you. Ppl should refrain from telling ppl how prepared they are bc those ppl might think you’re crazy now, but when they get hungry, they’ll know who has the food.. God is about to do a 2nd Exodus, but bigger bc it’s worldwide, to remove the evil from the 7 mountains of society. For 3 days they’ll be darkness, blackouts, no TV, radio, internet, or cell use. Have food, water, pet supplies , baby supplies, an alternate way to cook. Don’t be afraid. God says He will protect His children like He protected the Israelites.

I purchase dark (black, brown, forest green, or dark blue ) plastic tarps. I use metal curtain loops that have little clips on the end and clip them onto one side of the tarp (usually the side with the holes in it). Then I put the damage-free hooks along the top of the window. These are the hooks that have an adhesive backing. Then just raise the tarp with the loops and hang them from the hooks. When I want to take the tarp down, I use a reaching stick with a little hook on the end to lift the loops off the hooks I attached to the wall. I also use the reaching stick to put the tarp up on to the hooks on the wall. Works extremely well and is moisture proof since no tape needed. You can use the adhesive hooks, put more adhesive on them if necessary or just hammer some hooks at the top of the window if you own your own home and don’t mind putting nails in the walls. PS If you are able to install 2 curtain rods, then the inner curtain rod could be used to hang the tarps on with the curtain rod hoops I just described. That way you can just slide the tarp across when you need to and thus avoid the adhesive wall hooks altogether. Boarding up or taping off your windows is essential in a wrol scenario. But that makes you blind to the outside. You need to be able to see outside your place to know what's going on around you. Hidden security cameras are a must

Unless you live in a bio lab, no conventional apartment or home is air tight. This is a short term solution, under "normal" conditions most riots/looting tend to move thru areas over several hours. It's about giving you an extra layer of security quickly enough, that hopefully you'll be passed over for some more appealing shiney things down the block.

The black out bag is a good idea to block out unwanted light but doing an outage and civil unrest i chose option B to prevent my window from being broken i will board up my front window which is a picture window in the middle and 2 small windows on the side with 3/4" plywood which i already have in the garage that i purchased in 2019 reasonably priced then and it will go up at the first sign of civil unrest,thats the only window that's exposed to street traffic, the black bag will block out the light from within but it won't stop a brick from the outside but the black bags will work for the side and back window nothing but a bullet will enter those windows , my house is fenced in on 3 sides thanks for sharing👍

@@Jim-bx7vs your fence needs to be impenetrable to do much more than slow them down. Logic suggests that if I'm a baddie, looking to throw bricks or what have you at a home that yes, I'll skip the boarded up window and go next door. But if I'm looking for goods that boarded up window is a beacon telling me you have stuff worth protecting. I'd be coming back later. It's still a good idea.
@Jim-bx7vs2 күн бұрын
@@renel7303 first off why go next door to a non believer that have no food ,water or what preppers stack and no fence is impenetrable and if they leave and come back what's behind the fence would change their mind, first a warning shot then and it would only be 1⃣, this is why you don't turn away close family and friends, since they didn't contribute to the stash they can be useful in many other ways, the board stays up you do not want a broken windows during civil unrest my property and stash will be defended by any means necessary 🤨😵
@renel73032 күн бұрын
@@Jim-bx7vs you talked about them throwing bricks during civil unrest. They would skip your house and throw bricks next door at glass. Although, who knows, some of them might throw them at your house anyway for kicks. Don't delude yourself that you and your property are safe. Watch some of the post apocalyptic movies for inspiration. There will always be some baddie with a bigger "army" and more weaponry than you have. Unless you are out in the boondocks and have established a well fortified "keep", fortified in every way, if you get my drift, you are only buying a little more time. That's my point. Let's hope we never get to try out our theories. Or our defenses.
