You can't open dell powersuply but you can get inside once. it's best to use oscilatiog cutter for plastic seem and cut the top off. Rebuild faulty components and leave it accesible to be open later. 2 rubberbands are enough.

Light machine oil (17-20W), like 3 in One, they also make a 3 in One Motor Oil just for that but I contacted them and was told their multipurpose oil is 17W light machine oil. I've also used nondetergent motor oil thinned with kerosene. Doesn't seem picky as long as it's light oil.

Made one and used an LED bulb (marked 60Hz) and it worked great for marking speeds on my variable-speed lathe dial that doesn’t have a digital readout! Cost ~.005 cents for paper, printer ink, a squirt of spray glue, and scrap backer material.

They started using ball bearings in 1948. Mine was Power Gold which was only available certain years, so I was able narrow mine down to 1958 but otherwise I don't know of a way to date them. Look for a manual on vintagemachinery.org. Also I have the bearings listed here: thewoodknack.blogspot.com/p/bearing-guide.html

Nice video. Replacement bearing cartridges aren’t very expensive. If you take the trouble to take this apart after it’s been used a lot then left to sit, no reason not to simply change the bearings and be done for a long while.

I just have spent a day doing adjustments to my saw. My arbor flange error is same as yours at periphery (+/- 1 thou). Here is the thing. I mounted a 4 inch dado stack and measured wobble and got +/- 5 thou. I cleaned everything also prior to this test. I calculated that my flange periphery is about 0.75 inch radius. This calculates out to a 5.3 thou difference on one side of the blade or a kerf that is 10.6 thousands greater than the saw blade for an 8 inch blade and closer to 12 thou greater than blade width for a 10 inch diameter blade. Does this sound right to you? Are you happy with the runout you have? I guess it isn't a big deal unless you are doing finger joints like me. Happy to hear any of your thoughts on this.
@RickMcQuay
@RickMcQuay 5 жыл бұрын
You'll also gain runout from the blade and the great the distance from the axle, or spindle, the greater the runout because distance will magnify the measurable error. A DI may only be capable of measuring 0.0005 - 0.001 runout at the flange but even small errors add up several inches away.

@RickMcQuay 5 жыл бұрын
To remove the headstock spindle, remove a set screw on the pulley then both LH nuts on the outboard side. Then gently pound the the spindle out toward the inboard side with a wood or rubber mallet. Mine took a pretty good whack the first time to bust loose. I'm going from memory but I think that is right.
