Absolutely beautiful and so resonate!!! I'm building a dulcimer right now for my wife. If I may, did you glue the entire sound stick to the top of the sound board? I can't find any information on how to connect it to the instrument, or anyone who will share how to mount it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless!
@aaronflinner643114 күн бұрын
@fransoldman841 thank you. Yes, I glued the fretboard from the end all the way to just before the part with the tuner to the top of the box.
@fransoldman84113 күн бұрын
@@aaronflinner6431 Thank you so very much! I'm going to try that then. I don't like to assume how to do things, and my thinking is, you wanted the fretboard to float on top to allow the soundboard to vibrate as much as possible. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though! I love the tone of your build! Personal preference, but I like the deeper toned dulcimers I've been listening to. Thank you so much, and God bless!
@aaronflinner643113 күн бұрын
@fransoldman841 I'm glad you lik it. I just slapped it together one day when I felt like building something. I already had the fretboard, so it was just a matter of putting together a box and drilling sound holes. The deep box definitely give it a deeper tone, but I also have baritone dulcimer strings on it tuned AEA. I've always liked baritone dulcimers. God bless you too, friend. He's always been kind to me.

I have a real problem holding the fiddle because God made my bones wrong. He put the love of fiddle in my brain, but messed up the anatomy. The only comfortable position I have found since 2006 points the bow at my face. I have a strap around my neck and around the tail stock. Its insane and I moved to the piano since God did give me 10 fingers. You instrument and method of holding may provide some relief to my problem. Thanks and keep up the good work. -- North Central Florida -- 7.10.24 -- On this day in 1908, my grandfather was born.

@mrbrown6421 I hope you are able to figure something out that helps. My mother broke her shoulder a couple years ago, and can no longer play the fiddle. It's been a great disappointment to her. Happy birthday to your grandfather. Thank you for the comments.

Im always interested in alternative designs for violins . For fiddle tunes anyway the higher finger positions aren't needed most times . I do notice that the higher positions may be constrained by the thickness of the box but i like it .
@aaronflinner643116 күн бұрын
@Philip-hv2kc thank you. Yes, this box does make playing difficult. I think having a longer neck and placing the bridge more towards the middle would make reaching the neck quite a bit easier. It sounds really good in person due to the deep box, but it is difficult to play.
