I am looking for a led flame effect panel that I can wire to a small solar panel for sting lights, so I can have flame effect in a lantern and have it powered by an external solar panel. Where can I get the led fame effect panel that is already wired so I can attach it to the solar panel myself?

Looks great! The weather has not been kind to you. We had a wind advisory here for the last 2 days and temps in the 90s. Today the wind stopped and the high was 53...At least I didn't lose anything this year. Will cross my fingers for you for a dry Halloween.

amazing progress! everything looks so good! sorry about all the rain! fingers crossed for a dry halloween day/night! been really rainy here in central ohio as well. supposed to start drying out by late afternoon tomorrow. not calling for rain on halloween, but we're getting a really cold snap - lows in the 20s & highs in the 40s, so it's gonna be a cold one! brrr! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I bought him this year too. He is now serving drinks in my living room. I did take his clothes before I put it together and steam them, so they were not so wrinkled. Unfortunately, he is too tall for my current Saloon. Looks like a next year Saloon makeover is due...

I independently came up with the same idea.... One difference is that I use a smaller 2 conductor wire and instead of the zip ties I use heat shrink tubing to die the wire on the handle... Also, instead of frosting paint I use a little spritz of black spray paint top and bottom of the glass then some white spray paint to frost the rest of the glass... It gives a pretty convincing soot effect. Good job! Funny I also use the RCA power system which goes back pretty far the first person I recall seeing anything of it was was Rich Duprey (ghoulish cop) and then Derek at Van Oaks (DMinor Sound)...
@RestlessHollow
@RestlessHollow 10 ай бұрын
Great minds think alike! Heat shrink tubing for the handle sounds like a clever modification. And your approach with the black and white spray paint to achieve a soot effect on the glass is a nice touch. Always happy to hear about different techniques! Definitely a big fan of the RCA lighting - it makes things so much easier for me. I think I picked it up from Derek (at least the idea of a RCA power supply box).

Great video, what amperage was you power supply? 1A? 2A?
@RestlessHollow
@RestlessHollow 10 ай бұрын
You can use whatever you prefer - 1A would be fine depending on how many lights you want to run. I actually power these boxes from a large 20A CCTV power supply that I run a bunch of lines from. It powers almost all of my lighting.

So, I'm a bit electronically challenged. Plenty of soldering applications for work, but not too many home projects that have actually worked out, including a power box I built a while back for a Christmas village. Anyhow, I attempted this project box less the box and switch, just to see if I could get the thing working at the most basic level. Negative...my streak continues haha. If you wouldn't mind, maybe you can explain to me what I might be doing wrong. I used a 12v power supply from Amazon that you linked to in another video (or an equivalent one), and just a basic LED from a votive candle I bought at the dollar store. I used a std 5.5 x 2.1 RCA. I soldered the positive LED lead (longer one) to the outside terminal of the RCA and the negative (shorter) lead to the inside cup terminal of the RCA. I plugged in the power supply and got no light. I reversed the two leads and powered up and got light for about a nano-second and then nothing, and tried again and still got nothing so I could only assess that I probably burned out the LED. I can't remember in which order I performed these 2 steps so if this doesn't make any sense then I probably did those in the reverse order from what I stated. Any ideas what I could have done wrong. Does the LED have to be a certain voltage to work on this power supply? It doesn’t look much different from the LED you tested with at the end of this video, but I don’t know much about voltages and such. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again. Remy

Although I've done many electrical crafts and projects around the house I'm not very electrically inclined. I'm currently trying to build a flicker unit using one of the flicker controls and a std LED, which I believe you used in a previous lantern. Not like this bulb style LED. I'm wondering if those can be powered along with something like this, using the same control box or will that cause problems having smaller LEDs and larger ones on same circuit? Thanks again. Remy

Thank you for the great ideas and tutorials. This lantern will be a nice addition to my Halloween gear. One question, it appears the RCA that you connect to the end of this lantern is female while the jacks in the RCA box tutorial are also female. Am I missing something? Shouldn't there be a male connector in this system? Pardon the dumb question, but I'm looking on Ali Express to possibly order, but want to be sure I get the right connectors. Thanks again Remy
@RestlessHollow
@RestlessHollow Жыл бұрын
Good question! The reason they both have female connectors is because I use RCA cables to connect the lanterns to the power box. The cable has male connectors on each end. I like using premade RCA cables because you can get them in many different lengths and aren't usually too expensive.
@jeremydetevis2847
@jeremydetevis2847 Жыл бұрын
@@RestlessHollow I see. So your props all have standard length cords, but you typically use an RCA (extension) to connect to power rather than plugging the prop directly into the power source. Makes sense. Thanks for the quick response. I look fwd to seeing more of your videos in the future. Thanks again and have a great day. Remy
