This is the most perfect performance of the most perfect example of a classical concerto in existence. Being the soloist in a concerto is the finest way to bring out the best of a musician, and Paganini wrote this knowing that he was to be the soloist, so he wrote it as a picture frame for his own portrait. He made it both beautiful and a serious challenge to the skill of the soloist. And here comes young Maria Duenas and just nails it. She masters so many hard passages that Paganini had planted to keep out the competition, and then listen to how sweetly her violin sings at 8:20. Beside the music, the audio and video quality are perfect too. Just one tip for Maria: Go find a luthier who can get your bow hair last for more than just a few minutes.

Es una violinista realmente fenomenal, con muchísimo talento, creatividad y gracia. Ni hablar de sus medios técnicos. Escucho sus grabaciones con enorme placer. Solamente quisiera que (lo digo con toda humildad y esperando no lo tome a mal) reflexionara sobre esa portada del disco. Se ve el nombre de la intérprete muchísimo mayor que el de Beethoven.... y la obra maestra es de Beethoven. Es posible que esta sea una estrategia de ventas de la Deutsche Grammophon, o de su manager, pero en mi opinión, el nombre del compositor (sobre todo uno de la talla de Beethoven) jamás debería ser menor que el de cualquier intérprete. Obviamente que hay muchos casos donde se ve este tipo de presentación, y al acostumbrarse, mucha gente hasta lo ve bien y "normal". Dicho todo esto, vuelvo a resaltar mi admiración por el arte de María Dueñas. La grabación es excelente.

The recording engineer should have balanced out the very loud orchestra and the sometimes almost inaudible soloist. But othrwise this is a very good performance. They got it righ with 9 year old Himari Yoshimura's incredible ferformance of this concerto, but ad breaks cutting in killed it off and it was ithdrawn, probably by her father under protest But KZfaq#s unforgiveable insistance of shoving an ad break in when the music is in full flow spoils our enjoyment of this too . At least wait until between movements.. Shame on you KZfaq
