does the train sounds and music play as you turn it on?

Nice set but the instruction book is horrible I’ve already had trouble on step 2 because of it Plus the scenery on the big paper came all crumbled up and once I had asked for a new paper i was sent a file to print it out myself My printer is not even working It would’ve been nice if the paper and box were more carefully packed Especially at that price

Says 1940s to me, it's more 60s or 70s right up to the mid 80s we had those in the UK. Hell, the last one I remember was on the Weymouth and Holyhead trains we had a MK1 first corridor with 8 compartments just like that. Soon disappeared though. I'd have one in modern colours with beer cans and sports bags in there.

This video is helpful, but at the same time laughable because of the apparent ease of assembling the parts. No doubt due to the stop motion filming technique. I am currently assembling this in the PNW so perhaps in a xeric environment like Arizona the parts would slide together as shown in the video. However, here the fit is very tight. So here are some of my assembly notes to date: 1. Step #3: watch out for part #27. There are actually 2 shapes with this number and the difference is subtle. Make sure you have the correct shape in the correct slot before you press them home. It's a tight fit and if you get it wrong it's difficult to remove them. 2. Step #17: Attaching the rubber band to part #37. The slot where the rubber band is attached is very tiny and fragile. Be sure to stretch out the rubber band until it is thin to get it in the slot. I broke this part and am waiting for a replacement. 3. Steps # 23 and 24: The wired connections to the motor are very hinky. I was being very careful with the motor but nonetheless one of wired connections broke off. There was only one strand of the wire soldered to the motor. I am waiting on a replacement for the motor. 4. Steps #50 - 54: Knowing what I know now I would have attached part #s 149 and 48 as shown in steps #57 -59 to the crankshaft before doing the assembly shown in steps #50 -54. Also, the 2 shapes that comprise part # 149 need extensive sanding with an emery board to reduce their size before part #48 will fit over them. And there's SIX of them! 5. Step #35 on page 11: There are 2 different parts labeled #81. The tan colored bar is actually part #10. 6. The part replacement request on the website: It has 3 areas to upload photos to. 2 are for missing parts and 1 is for replacement parts. I was only requesting (so far) replacement parts but it wouldn't allow me to submit the request until I uploaded photos to the missing part sections. Finally I wrote on a piece of paper that I had no missing parts, took a photo of that and uploaded it. Success! To be continued...

I'm having difficulty attaching the rubber band to the wood. I tried the superglue gel. Any suggestions?
@byanavrinАй бұрын
Hi Karen, thanks for reaching out to us on this, would it be possible for you to try another type of superglue? Are you using the Gorilla Super Glue?
@byanavrinАй бұрын
Alternatively, you could use a strong double-sided tape. Please let us know if either works, our team is always here to help!
@karencallaghan9466Ай бұрын
I tried that too and it doesn't work. Finally I wrapped the rubber band around the spindle as shown and then placed a small, clear rubber band meant for pony tails around the first rubber band to hold it in place.

Yes it looks absolutely amazing, but the quality of the set is abysmal. There are pieces missing, images misprinted holes missing due to miscuts. I can't get over the fact that this set is so very expensive and yet so poorly produced. And they keep refering me to their replacement service - an online form that is impossible to fill out because it consists of about a zillion required text fields with no description whatsoever. I feel betrayed and wasted my money on this. Sorry for speaking out the truth.
@byanavrinАй бұрын
Hi, we're so sorry to hear about this. The required text fields for the replacement parts are essential so our team can make sure we fulfilled what you will need to complete the entire kit just so we don't make any mistakes. We have revamped instructions on our page at - byanavrin.com/pages/instructions. Please know that we're here to help if you have any issues with the building process, we really hope you will be able to finish the kit.

This is helpful since the booklet that comes with the Book Nook has errors where the numbers of the parts you need aren't shown.
@kat.k4666Ай бұрын
Numbers aren't shown, simlar-looking pieces are numbered the same, some steps aren't included (like the construction of the train wheels)... I could go on and on with what's wrong with this set. I'm disappointed to say the least.

@@kat.k4666 Yeah, also loosely fitting pegs is also one of my main grievances with this set. I enjoyed building sets by ROKR and Rolife a lot more than this one, and it has become a real slog.

I don't understand the purpose of the motor driven interior detail scroll. In the video, it appears that the people in the building are whizzing by on an express train! That interior detail should be static, not moving, yes?
@byanavrinАй бұрын
Our main idea for the motion film scroll was to depict a bustling dining scene in the restaurant building, showcasing waitresses serving meals to patrons. We aimed to create a cozy and lively atmosphere that reflects the traditional culture, highlighting locals enjoying their time together.

The light string included did not seem to match the pictures in the instructions, mine had inline bead type lights, instead of the LEDs that you show. Some wiring between lamp locations had to be taped or routed so the next bulb would be in the right location, so I don't know if everything is right with that

Too bad the moving scene couldn't be made of transparent plastic sheet instead of paper. Some of the layers of wood also separate easily, and if you don't trim the fabric pieces out of their sheets, they tear easily if you pull on them. The adhesive used on the fabric and metal foil pieces is not very strong and everything needs glue to hold them in place. The instructions do not give sheet locations or their color, except for the metal foil sheets. The insructions need revision, even the online version
@donfoley69465 ай бұрын
Wish everything was as easy as you show, but I had a lot of concerns with my build, and some of the materials could have been better quality, especially for $199.95 without discounts. It runs very noisy, plus the first 2 lights in my string didn't work. I was kind of disappointed overall. Sorry!

I'm putting this kit together right now. I can confirm that there are at least three wood parts missing on the trays. Which is disappointing since the kit is very cool. The three missing parts are all for the two seats. I can improvise using cardboard - or unused sections of the wood parts trays. But it drove me nuts until I did a full inventory of all the trays and discovered that the parts were never etched into the trays. For a kit this expensive - that's pretty shitty.

I also bought additional kits for gifts. One for my sister - and I'm dreading how she will be able to deal with the missing parts.
