I have been single since 1996 after getting divorced. I tried the dating sites a couple times and found out one in three profiles are scammers. I also dated two men locally who I had known for many years about five years after they had gotten divorced. One a Chiropractor and another one an engineer. I even got engaged to them. We had known each other casually through the years but I found out that they had become addicted to dating sites. Nice looking, good jobs, financially stable, mature and I thought emotionally stable. Great catches from a woman's perspective. Every woman around was hitting on them too. I had no idea that they were on dating sites the whole time we dated and while we were engaged. It is too easy these days for people to get online. They get addicted to the likes, the messaging, the chase. It is a narcissistic world out there and if you are looking for trouble, you're going to find it. Just mention the idea that you're looking for love and here comes all the players, scammers, abusers, cheaters, you name it. I do not date or even look anymore. I have settled in my mind that it is too risky and dangerous and exhausting. Life is great being who you are and enjoying what you have. I have three great sons, family, friends, a home and am happy. Stay safe!

Ten or eleven years ago I tried Christian mingle. I had the exact same experience. Men traveling to other countries for his great job, suddenly a crisis comes up and he ask for money. One said he had a small daughter who needed emergency medical, etc. so on and so forth, scam, scam, scam, very exhausting and scary. Never again. They do target Christian women and play on their sympathy, guilt, etc. You were wise. I am sorry it happened to you but very glad that you caught on. Many, many women have been scammed out of thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is not safe.

That is a very odd thing, when a person says he is a Christian and in the army too. Because Jesus said: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, ... " (Matthew 5,44) So when you have an enemy, and the army says: "Kill him!", and you answer: "No, I will love him and do good to him!", then they will kick you out of the army immediately. These two things can never be together. So the problem is rather, that Christian woman don't know their bible. Then of course they are an easy prey for scammers.

I believe you are misreading the Bible RicoBrien. I agree God tells us to be forgiving turn the other cheek, and to love your enemies, but there’s a difference between running an army. I want to refer you back to when God sent the Israelites to take over the land of Canaan, and that was not by asking pretty please. Got expects us to fight righteously when called upon it is righteous to defend the nation that he blessed us with this great United States of America, contrary we are not doing that today, and we are being overrun by illegals running into this country and taking from what is ours. I believe God expects us to protect our constitution. Our Bill of Rights and our Judean Christian heritage. I believe we built this country accepting immigrants legally not illegally, and we are being invaded upon. I think it is a courageous righteous job to be a policeman, defending the citizens in our communities, along with being a soldier protecting our country. You sir need to take a another look at the Bible.

@@leslieboyle3297 Thank you for your answer. That is a really good question, whether I misread the bible? To me, it is very interesting when Jesus said: "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." (Matthew 15,9) That is why I could never understand why Americans are so proud of their constitution and their Bill of Rights. Because these are commandments of men. God gave his commandments to the people, and with that everythings is said. But when people are trying to add their own commandments and to mix them with Gods, they will get problems in understanding. Jesus himself said: "My kingdom is not of this world: " (John 18,36) But we can read about the Devil: "And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine." (Luke 5-7) If that is true, what we read in the bible, then Christians should be very careful with commandments of men, when all the countries of this world are ruled by the Devil. But also, we can read in Revelation 12,9, that the Devil deceives the whole world: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." I think, with these commandments of men, it is the same problem with Adam and Eve, that they should not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. When the serpent said: "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3,5) Because when people ate of that tree, and they are convinced they know good and evil now, then they don't need Gods commandments anymore, and they can start to make their own commandments because they know now what is good and what is evil. Then they will put God's commantments aside and create things like Human Rights, and so on, not knowing, that they are deceived by the Devil. When I read the bible, then I read a lot of warnings, that I will not be deceived by him who rules all the countries of this world. I wish you all the best. <3

@@RicoBruenn you can’t ignore Genesis 1:28. We were told to take Dominion and rule over the Earth. We are not expected to hide in the mountains, saying prayers 24/7. therefore, we need to take dominion over our countries. Our governments our schools, our politics our families and we do that by being engaged with society, and that also means defending your family and society. Not only are the demons here, but God‘s children are here to be rulers and empowered by God so we can walk the Earth fearless, walking in the spirit, one with God being victorious.

@@leslieboyle3297 I am sorry, but I can not agree with you, because my citizenship is in heaven. (Philippians 3,20) "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ," I have nothing to do with any country here on earth anymore. I don't even go to vote anymore, since I am a Christian, because my citizenship is in heaven. Even as it is said in Hebrew 11,13 we are "strangers and pilgrims on the earth." And when you quote from the beginning of the bible, that "we were told to take Dominion and rule over the Earth", then I would like to quote from the last chapter of the bible: "And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Revelation 22,10-12) I can understand, that for many people it is very difficult to understand and to agree, that it is said: "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still", but things have changed in the New Testament. If you read the NT carefully, then you can notice, that nobody fought for their earthly country anymore, but they were all spiritually fighting for the kingdom of heaven. Nobody of them wanted to rule together with Caesar, Pilate or Herod. So it is very odd to me, when you try to explain, that we need to take dominion over our countries, our governments... Because, when I read my bible, then I get a very different view. I wish you all the best. <3

@@RicoBruenn Christians that roll over and play dead leave openings to satan minions to rule is why we are in the mess we are in today. God said to take dominion while we are here on earth in human bodies. That sounds like a commandment not a suggestion. Which then leads to having Christians being disobedient to the word of God. God said we will have to answer for every jot and tittle, in other words we are responsible for every thought and word we have. All this indicates we have duel citizenship: one with heaven one on earth. God also said to be our brothers keeper here on earth. Therefore, we need to vote in every election.

My Christian Mingle marriage lasted 10 years. I finally found that she has a personality disorder (NPD) that drives her to selfishly control, manipulate and provoke-to-rage -- with no real empathy/Love. A "normal" church member dating situation would have allowed some referrals on each others personality and Faith. Christian Mingle is a true leap of Faith -- a high-stake gamble. NEVERTHELESS God definitely setup this marriage for a season . Now we both get to enjoy our Senior years with true loved-ones -- but not each other, I would not use a dating site again -- if I could avoid it.

@@leslieboyle3297 It can happen with people you have known a long time as well. Even when you think you knew them, you find out you did not know them at all. It happened twice with me. We decided to date after both being divorced nearly 5 years, he was going through midlife or something. Totally went out of character after his divorce. He even bought me an engagement ring, we went on some trips, etc. but he was cheating. The other was an engineer who I had known for twelve years through my business. We ran into each other after we were both divorced. Became engaged, I moved to be with him, it became a total nightmare as well. He had women strung along all over the country. I think he became addicted to dating sites. He was nice looking, successful, a real good catch from a woman's point of view and he knew it. Sorry to hear this Leslie. Online dating is no fun today for men either. However, for women, it can be physically dangerous. My advice is that once you get a mans phone number, you should google his number and get his last name. Make sure he is actually who he says he is! When you do meet in person, meet in a public place and make sure a friend or family knows where you`re meeting and do not get into the car with them. Meet them at the restaurant or wherever but make sure its a public place and get yourself a tracker for your phone and share it with family and friends. Life360 is free and works well. And if any man or woman who is asking for money should be dropped immediately.

Online scamming is a multi-billion dollar, globally organized industry! Men and women both are at risk. The majority use stolen identities/profiles, including photos, to con you. It's rampant, especially on dating sites, as well as social media and every conceivable internet vehicle you can name. To be as safe as possible, never give your phone#/email add. until you have verified who they are, if they offer their # ? Look it up, do not open strange e-mail, it most likely contains malware/spyware. I know it sounds crazy, and it is! I've been victimized numerous times over the last few years, and sadly, I'm better at spotting them now than I ever wanted to be. It has been suggested not to give any info until after you have met in person... I hope this will help someone, they are extremely cunning, well groomed and vicious.

Online dating can work - but you have to meet face to face either live chat or in person asap so you know who you are really speaking to. Be blessed and safe!

How about finding a man in your own home town. And uhhhh NO MAN poor or rich would ever ask a woman for anything.

I am an advocate of local dating. But I was encouraged to give long distance dating a try, so I did. It was working for a friend of mine, but then the problem eventually comes who is going to move? I did date a man I met through a club I am in. He was 3 hours away, made it very hard to stay in a relationship since we were both busy professionals. I never gave any man money - and stopped communicating with him asap because that was the obvious red flag he is a scammer. Live and learn. That’s why I spoke up to help put a stop to all this BS.

I only shared my case as a woman. I don’t know what you mean why do I always show women getting scammed? I reply to whoever reaches out to me. as far as men getting scammed, I’ve referenced that many times, and I am just as concerned for men being taken advantaged of. There could very easily be men using women’s pictures Catfishing to try to trap a man to get money from him too. Everyone needs to be careful, everyone needs to use live video chat if you’re meeting online I wouldn’t trust anybody, I wouldn’t give out my email to just anybody so hopefully these dating sites now have live video chat available. I’m so sorry to hear you got scammed, that’s why I shared my experience so we could put these lowlife scum bags out of business.

An atheist or a gypsy would do something like that.
