Personally i like using the third inversion ger6+ in deceptive cadences instead of the standard vi. I make the V in the bass drop to IV# then chromaticly to V7/vii and basically a monte from there. I stole this from bach even tho bach didn't use a ger6+ but a VI7

I have a guitar background, but this channel inspired me to take up piano improvisation. This approach, where creating music is an active craft rather than a consequence of geometry and principles, makes music feel exciting to me again. These videos help fuel my motivation even though I'm only a few weeks in and I'm only drilling very simple exercises. I'm about 10 pages into Mortenson's Guide to Historic Improvisation, taking care to gain fluidity with transposing everything to every key.
