Loved your explanations! I feel like I’ve had a lot of trouble finding my season because people focus so heavily on Winters looking like Snow White, but I have medium brown hair that naturally highlights to a dirty blonde and deep green eyes. I look dead in muted colors and come to life in bright colors! I can wear bright lilac purple lipstick that on other people looks garish, but on me it’s just a lovely pink! Thank you so much for this. I have watched hours and hours of content on seasonal color analysis and they all show bright winter as having black hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. It’s so frustrating because I know what looks best on me (bright winter colors) but my features don’t perfectly align with the common description of bright winter.

Yes! What many fail to mention about colour analysis Seasons is that it is not so much about how you look, but which colours make your skin look healthy and radiant! Consequently, as a Bright Winter you may not look like Snow White, but it is the Bright Winter clear, highly saturated colours that brings out the best in your skin!

Yeah! When I first discovered color analysis, I thought I was Dark Autumn, but now I believe I'm likely a Dark Winter. I used to think I was warm because years ago, I tried on this cool lilac nail polish that turned my hands green/zombielike. In hindsight, that lilac nail polish may have been from the True Summer palette. I also tried a pastel pink nail polish that didn't *quite* work either, and that was likely a Light Summer/Light Spring shade. Over the years, I've also tried and worn winter and autumn nail polish colors, and the winter shades have been the best on me. The autumn shades are decent and seem to reveal that I'm autumn-adjacent. So Dark Winter seems to the match for me!

I broke down and bought two yellow tops after getting draped as a Winter last year. One, an icy lemon sweater I love and the other a True Winter lemon similar to yours. I've finally worn them this winter and found I love them after nearly 50 years of avoiding yellow. The makeup for them is what I've struggled with. My lips need more color than I'm comfortable wearing, and I just can't seem to find the perfect one to pair with these that doesn't make me feel like my face is screaming, "LIPS!"
@JorunnHernes
@JorunnHernes 5 ай бұрын
Congratulations on dipping your toes into yellow! And yes, it can be intimidating to wear a very bright lipstick. The one thing you hsould avoid is going for a muted colour. Keep the intensity high, but add transparency instead. Something like RMS beauty tinted lip balm Peacock Lane might do the trick. It has intensity and clarity to match your Winterness but transparency to keep it light so not to scream LIPS

As I get older, I find myself getting even braver with my shoe choices. Since being draped in person last year (True Winter), I think it's giving me even more "permission" to have fun with the right colors. I recently bought a pair of oxfords with navy, black, silver, and magenta floral (they fairly screamed Winter!) and wore them for the first time this weekend with so many compliments. I love your analogy of them being statement jewelry. That's how I've been treating them. The more noticeable the shoes are, the simpler my outfit. Shoes are the way to go in life. They fit no matter what you ate last week.

Greetings from the Philippines. My questions are can and may I use gold and silver metallic paper/wrapper in finding out what my skin undertone is, and apart from draping them under my face and neck, will looking at my reflection on them like I'm looking at my reflection in the mirror deliver accurate results? With the silver metallic paper, my reflection became fair and even with pinkish lips. On the other hand with the gold one, my reflection became orange. I don't know if this is a good method I did. Thank you.
@JorunnHernes
@JorunnHernes 5 ай бұрын
Greetings from Norway! What an interesting approach to finding the undertone of your skin! I have not heard of this method and I'm not really sure how accurate it would be. However, it does sound like your skin cleared up and looked more healthy next to the silver paper, so that might indicate a cooler skin tone, and that is a good start to figuring out your Season, which is best done in a personal colour analysis.

What to do when your colors clash with your gray/white hair? I'm a dark autumn with white hair.
@JorunnHernes
@JorunnHernes 6 ай бұрын
Chances are, if you have not altered your hair with chemicals, the particular whiteness of your hair will harmonise in your own unique way with your skin (because they are all the same DNA and there is no human being on earth that doesn't harmonise with themselves), so wearing your Season's colours in clothes will also be right, with the silver white hair making an interesting contrast, even as a Dark Autumn. As a personal note, I find that it is even more important to wear my colours (especially my warm colours) now that my hair is silver instead of the dark brown of my younger years, because I do feel bland and drab some days, and using my "colour colours" and the darker colours helps. Try wearing your intensely rich, spicy, Dark Autumn colours instead of the lighter end of your colour palette, see if that helps!

Is classic winter the same as bright winter?
@JorunnHernes
@JorunnHernes 6 ай бұрын
I would think that classic winter refers to what we would call True Winter in the system I work in. True Winter is the true cool Winter, Bright Winter is warmed by a little bit of Spring sunshine, and dark Winter has a little smidge of Autumn glow. But make no mistake, all three are definite Winters. But if you say Classic Winter, my associations go towards True Winter.

I have loved all the bright colors right from the start. I like to wear 2 or more colors together. I like sparkly accessories but even more so multi-colored bright accessories. @JorunnHernes

I don't know what Cate's experience is in this matter, but for me, most of the Bright Winters that reach out to me are ones who are a little scared of their colours. I assume that the enthusiastic Bright Winters are out there, happily picking colours from their palette and using them. Being an enthusiastic Bright Winter doesn't seem to be much of a problem, since you can combine any and all colours from your Bright Winter palette and look fantastic! But I see your point and it is an intriguing idea to create some content for the enthusiastic Bright Winter. Is there anything specific you would be looking for in a source like that?

@user-si7dk4wn5c 7 ай бұрын
But it doesn't seem to work to just combine any and all colors from my Bright Winter palette. Too many brights together is overwhelming. Too many darks together is too dull. Too many icies together wash me out. Contrasting a color at the warmer end of the palette (reds, pinks, yellows) with a cooler color (blues, purples) (I haven't figured out where to fit greens in yet.) as well as having a little lighter - darker contrast mixed in seems to work best for me. But that's a lot of parts to get balanced. When I get it right, I love it. But it's complicated.
