Suggestion: For the very first chord, try simply fretting the G string, 3rd fret, all other strings open (and an upstroke first). Then slide up to resolve it in this shape: 466400 This gives it more of that classic Marr chime... Thanks for your work on this.🎉

Thanks Modfather, will give it a try. And thanks for all your other work, found it very useful over the years. Your lesson on That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore was what persuaded me to give Johnny tunes a go when I thought they were an unachievable dream.

@hicksy0815 I suppose it's something of a small world out there with respect to being a Johnny Marr/Smiths fan. So glad to have been helpful earlier on. Keep up the good work, man. 😎

I use a Boss GT100, but the guitar is doing most of the work here. A bit of reverb and chorus, that’s it.

I find the original riff SO entrancing! Maybe one day I can play it, but usually a cut-away is wasted on me, lolz

First heard this song almost 10 years ago, but to this day I still consider it one of the most hauntingly beautiful riffs I've ever listened to. Absolutely had to learn it on guitar

Cool !! Sorry for asking 4 years later, but I see that the GT-100´s output type is selected as "line/phones", even though you are using a Combo Amp. Does that option works better compared to selecting "Combo Amp"?

Here’s the chords: First of all if you haven’t read the info retune to EADGbd capo on the fifth fret. Spacy intro chords d| - 5 - 4 - 2 - 0 - b| - 3 - 3 - 3 - 0 - G| - 2 - 2 - 0 - 0 - D| - - - - - - - - 0 - A| - - - - - - - - 2 - You can play this using on double stops on the high d and b. But the final chord sounds better rung out and the B on the A string is optional. Also the the third chord here isn’t the same as in the video, but I think it’s more correct.

Chorus is easier to follow: Cadd9 C G6sus2 G6sus2/F# Emin C barre4 and barre 7 (you can do sus4 type HO and PU thing on the barre 7 as well for a nice effect), see below: d| - 4- 7 - - - - 7 - - 7 b| - 4 - 7 -ho - 8 po 7 G| - 4 - 7- - - - 7 - - 7 D| - 4 - 7 - - - - 7 - -7

You, sir, are a bloody marvel - thanks so much for posting this - I would have never worked this out in a 100 years. It's now in our band's set list to learn and perfect by July!

I bet it did @@hicksy0815 😆. By the way - your guitar has a generally lower pitched-feel than when I'm playing it. Is it the guitar (12 string, baritone?) or do you have a pitch shift pedal, or is it just the chorus effect you're using?

Incredible cover! Regarding Christian's guitar, I've seen in videos (like the KCRW one you mentioned in the description) that he plays single notes instead of strumming chords. Or maybe he plays it in different ways sometimes?
