This definitely not apply to the Netherlands, since buying a home to rent it out means you need to put in at least 10% of the house value, it’s also valued differently, and you pay a shit load of taxes now over you rent income. Besides that most cities now (only recently) you need to actually life in the house for 4 years before you can rent it out, and you need a shit load of “points” before you can rent it. You can get points depending on the size and quality of your home. So basically. Or you rent …or you buy and life in the house, which is wayyyyy to overvalued, or you don’t do shit. Unless you are rich to start with, and you can put in the 10% , turn it into an asset, pay a shit load of taxes, and then hope the prices of the home will rise in value, which the most probably will, and invest for the long run. Butttt…in the mean time, so many regulations that are constantly changing, that at this point it’s not even profitable to buy and rent it out.
