I got the infamous broken decompression camshaft and now the engine randomly speeds up and races, I'm guessing the broken decompression bit may have damaged the governor 😕

This is very helpful, thanks. Just got 2009 (EU) and it goes to CO mode, but 10 is default value. If i set it lower, the bike hesitates and idle is too low. If i set it too much positive, for example 20, the bike backfires when lifting the throttle.
@abc123bengi
@abc123bengi 5 ай бұрын
I ended up putting the setting back to where it was originally and putting a booster plug on it. That seemed to help the low end a little, but the bike still bogs a bit if i try to really get on it at a low speed. Ive learned to live with it for now, but there are other things that i could do to help it more.

Thanks for the info! I have been using it the way it is and the only reason I feel I'd want to hook it back up is actually to slow it down a little when grinding a stump with the motor all the way revved up. It is a little touchy then, but so far it has been fine for me.

I've repaired lots of small engines. Larger engines tend to have crank ball bearings without a thrust bearing; however in smaller engines the case halves double as the bearing on either side of the crankshaft and may or may not use a thrust bearing. If your engine is the type that doesn't use ball bearings on the crank, then the amount of play you have in your video is normal. Only way to check what type of crank bearing you are using is either go online and look it up, or just split the case open. Once you split the case, if your engine has crank ball bearings, then pull back and forth on the bearing. If there's play then just change out the bearings. Good bearings or new bearings won't have any play. Good luck.
