Aaaa! The fun of being on the hard and the ton of things you have to do. Ben there done that. And it I s apart of boat 🚢 life. Sorry I messed ya'll live. I was helping a New Neighbor pick up there truck in Helo. It's always a fun day to get the last of your things to the Island that you have shipped from the mainland. It is mid June and it is 2:53 a.m. And I am out here looking at the Moon light reflection of the Ocean. Can't wait to see ya'lls sails on the Horizon someday. How cold is it it? Is it diesel? Is it parafon based? Maybe the fuel is thickening as the parafon congeals due to the cold. Use Non-parafon based diesel.

It was pretty cold. Water temp was likely only a few degrees celsius. Not sure about the parafon diesel...

Did you get your engine fixed? Sounds like not running on all cylinders. Maybe your injector pump or injector?

We got it to a place of working. Changed injectors and did some bleeding of the lines etc etc. starts better now but there is still more work to be done on it. We're babying it for now.

If your VHF has an aux port in the back then you can install a small cheap speaker in the cockpit and plug it in via aux cable. i have one in my cockpit that allows me to hear the radio on the helm even when it's connected down below.

I have the same boat! What type/types of zincs do you have? Mostly what shaft zinc you have? Brand? Thread? Is there enough room for a shaft zinc?

Hey! There is no zinc anode on the shaft. We have tear drop shaped zincs on the rudder. We were planning on putting a zinc collar on the shaft while it is out of the water but there is not enough space. The tear drops on the rudder will have to suffice.

I'm playing catchup :) We just left our first sailboat that we're gonna be selling- near Manitoulin- and moved to Nova Scotia- big learning curve with our 41' Island Trader :) Curious- if you sail up to Killarney, flit over to Manitoulin, enjoy the beautiful best fresh water sailing of the Benjamins-- and cross over at the Sault and go down the Missisippi? Come back up via the intercoastal?

We've never done anything beyond Lake Ontario (yet). We'd love to sail around Manitoulin. My grandparents had a cottage up there when I was younger and it's such gorgeous water and shoreline. 41' is a lot more boat than our little 32' for sure! Sometimes I think about getting a slightly bigger boat, but I think the advantages of our little boat outweigh the negatives right now... Maybe someday. We're still deciding our route south... we'll probably know better in July. Thanks for watching!

@@turtlecrossingsailing We purchased our 1986 34' Catalina from Midland, brought her Manitoulin and sailed in that area- Little Current and Spanish/the Benjamins and Killarney for about 7 years. Hubby rebuilt the motor, and now it has a new rudder. Two cabin, one bath, L-shaped galley... slightly bigger for ya guys! It's sitting in the Blind River area and not officially listed, but up for sale! She will need new rigging and sails, although they're good for a few seasons we think. Full canvas enslosure- except for the mosquito netting stuff, great cushions-- JUST SAYIN"!! You really have to go to Manitoulin and visit your gramma's old stompin' grounds, it's magical for sure!

So glad you are following your dreams and plans.😊 I don’t know if that was a bladder for your water or not but if so I strongly advise having a plan to put a sturdy tank in if u want to sail on the ocean, they will leak at some point. Never give up😊👍🏼

Hey, thanks. The approximate cost was about 1500 (we had to pay some unexpected duties at the border since we ordered from the States to Canada). It didn't take overly long to do.. can be installed in a day. Pretty straightforward. I highly recommend it. We will be doing a review episode this spring about our experience with it this winter.
