First you connect them to your SmartThings Hub. Then connect your SmartThings to Alexa. All devices will then be voice controlled.

These will need a hub because they are not wifi. Wifi requires a lot of energy. Many wifi smart products may an Alexa skill that will connect the two through your home network.

The easiest way it to just pay Amazon 15$. Then you are good for life. Many of the other methods will require to be redone after each update. If you have a computer you can use the Fire Toolbox program for windows.

everything in my house is connected to SmartThings. Then SmartThings is connected to Alexa to enable voice control over all of my devices.

Why is there no transcript? You talk to fast for a newbie to follow and I couldn't find the icon to slow the speed so i had to keep stopping this. Couldn't follow how to open folderto separate two apps stuck in same box by mistake. I guess you should slectpify for non beginners to tablets forthis podcast. Disappointing.

@@mcalisterhayes if you always back in, you would want to set up the laser where the front of the car would be and it would just come from the other direction rather than from the front to the back it would be from the back to the front.

I honestly bloody give up Amazon Alexa customer service is useless I literally told them I tried several times for several weeks to disconnect the device unplugged plugged it connects but then disconnects after after few hours both my devices are very close metre 4 metres away but both not working I factory reset device! Set it all up again it connects then disconnects I restarted router still messing around it worked fine for years it's not the internet even when I had terrible internet I never had issues with echo I believe it's maybe software update from Amazon messed if all up it just disconnected again I give up

How many SIMPLETON videos must one watch until we get past the "Is it plugged in" stuff. Our wifi was upgraded to add 5g and it the 1st gen Echo hasn't worked since. All kind of other devices have NO problem. One would think Amazon would be sending out notices about dealing with the expected issues, But NOOOOOOOOO. My Alexa app doesn't even look like the app in some videos so right out of the gate its over.

It might be time to update your echo device. It’s possible it’s not compatible with the new Wi-Fi standards. The relatively cheap and Amazon prime day is coming up!

@@SimplySmart123 Exactly what Amazon would like when it isn't necessary . Answer found after way too many hours researching. Wifi Must be 2.4g if you dont see it contact provider to separate it, Unbundle from 5g signal. Turn off Bluetooth on phone.. Start over. TA-DA, Guess what ? Amazon did Not provide the solution. Another Echo owner on Help did. Shame on Amazon for not knowing and sharing this.

@DoctorDification the newer devices can connect to either 5G or 2.4 so it’s not an issue on those. But I guess the older ones are locked into 2.4. usually, if you have both the device will automatically connect to the correct Wi-Fi.

Thank you for sharing this very helpful video. I have a Fire HD 10 and I've installed an SD card with preloaded songs. However, I can't seem to open it on my device. I could access the storage section showing the Internal Storage and SD Card Storage. But when I tap the SD Card part, it won't show the content. I've tried everything but to no avail. Do you know a way to access my SD card with pre-downloaded songs without having to purchase songs from Amazon Music? I'm hoping you guide me through step by step. Please help. Thanks.

I think it just means that the microphone is being used by an app in my case it was because I was recording a video.

Yes you can do that with Alexa or SmartThings. Not sure if the basic Yale app can do it.

What generation is this? I recently got the 13th generation of the Fire HD 10, and my show mode seems really limited. The background won't change and it's only showing me the time, not the weather, which I've seen on most videos. Was just wondering if you noticed either of those issues

At the time of filming the video, I was unaware of this. It’s very peculiar that they are both running the same software but seemingly, the hardware is not capable on the non-pro versions.

Nice video! Still super informative after 3 years. How is the washable filter holding up? Does dust get stuck inside and affect its performance over time? Most comments I read on reddit are saying these can't get cleaned 100% every time and degrades over time.

The best solution would be to add an SD card and format as internal memory. You can manage your storage in the settings. It will show what is using the memory.

Did you plan on using that hard drive as your internal storage? If not, you can install a file explorer to determine the path of the external drive.

No. Its just software. It can easily be set back to factory defaults. Hardware modifications will void for sure.

that is a good question. I’m pretty sure these tablets are only meant to be used in particular areas of the world and may not have all time zones.
