Nate....as always thanks for the all your great info. We planted our food plots on Aug 8th. Mainly clover, chicory, radish mix etc some oats. One 1/2" rain starting to come in and now drought with very high temps in the 90's. If I were to over seed with more oats when would you suggest and how much per acre? Thanks for all your great advice.....hope you have time to stop out sometime soon. Bob

Looks great. Good luck this season. I have been a "rye guy" for the most part here is west TN. It has been good to us. I am going to try oats this year and see. I have always no tilled but this year I am going to till since I have a tractor and tiller. How deep do you normally till? I see some talk about the worry of hardpanning the soil. I don't have a cultipacker, so will just drag and use ATV to run it over.

Great video, I'm in the Southeast and oats did me well too. No hard winters here so never have to worry about frost kills of anything. Question, how do the oats do for you when broadcasting into a standing crop? In other words, when you broadcast but can't drag and roll them because of the current standing crop? I just had a brain fart! Tridicale is a wheat/ rye hybrid! Is that what is staying green? Not the oats!? Correct? Cause those 2 will absolutely stay green into late winter! And from my understanding the order they go is oats, winter wheat, rye, tridicale! My understanding is they like winter wheat better than tridicale, and oats even more but there not hardy. The tridicale is what is green in December.
