What is amazing is that you and I can still have great discussions on this passion we share, even though you approach it with a baitcaster, and I approach it with a spinning rod. I actually have about 12 baitcast rods in total. I have videos about them on the channel. If you check some of my videos, you will see that I do have a few bait casters. My most expensive is the Megabass Destroyer Evoluzion White Python medium heavy paired with a zillion. And it’s about a $1000 combo. I won the from The Hookup Tackle in one of their giveaways. Great question! Medium heavy (MH) rods can be designed for finesse techniques and for power techniques. It all depends on the desire of the manufacturer. Finesse presentations depend more on the style of Fishing than it does the weight and rating of the rod. For example the Cashion Rods John Crews ICON Series Spinning Rod is rated and designed medium heavy, but it is a drop shot rod, which is clearly a finesse technique. The 7’1” St. Croix Victory Spinning Rod is labeled a “MH Fast Max Finesse rod”. The Daiwa Tatula 7’1” MH is labeled as a Fast action Takahiro Omori signature series “Shakey Head” rod. There are many other rods which emphasize this fact. Of course, there are some rod, designs and ratings that would be impractical for power applications, just as there are some rods that would be impractical for finesse applications. In general, the medium, having is sort of a sweet spot in Fishing, where both power and finesse applications can be designated with MH rods.

Oh no! I still love the Omen series and the Fate series. However since Rapala has taken control of the company, they are doing some strange things with their rod offerings. I’m giving them some time to settle as to what they are going to retail for the long term. They already discontinued the Fuse, which used to be their highest end rod. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
