Whoever she was referring to, she should have either named the person and stood her ground or apologised by saying her comment was disrespectful towards all singers who age like all humans do. Personally, I suspect she was reffering to Madonna. I never met Kelly but I guess she can't be THAT delusional, thirsty or simply stupid to go after Mariah Carey simply because Mariah's voice is a miracle. That can be said about a few people in the recorded history of music, including Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Anna Moffo, Eda Moser, Christa Ludwig, Eula Beal, Patsy Cline, Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Labelle, Celine Dion, Yma Sumac, Violetta Villas, Anastasia and of course Whitney Houston. These ladies possess/ed miracle voices that people study at universities. And Mariah's voice is a unicorn, a voice like no other for reasons only a true vocal expert will ever comprehend.

Hood really people need to stay da PHUCK away from vocal fach. Keisha is a very underdeveloped lyric soprano if it was to classify her in opera. Cher is a real contralto or maybe even a mezzo. Toni Braxton is a soprano with low qualities/vocal choices but the cords are too thin to be mezzo. There are no real mezzos in pop music. I could only classify a real mezzo/dramatic soprano in secular music and this would be Gladys Knigh(HUGE thick metallic dark voice) Pink, Lady Gaga, Donna Summer, etc. are lyric sopranos. Women like Patti Labelle, Jennifer Hudson, and I would also say Aretha Franklyn are spintos with different styles and vocal choices. There is only one single raw natural dramatic soprano in secular music and this would be Adele - bright, dark at the same time, metallic, with great high notes yet the cords are still too thin to be mezzo.

I LOVE Kelly Price, I do. But Kelly never had or will have 19 number 1 songs. She haven’t sang nearly as much as Mariah Carey has in her 30+ year career. And this didn’t age well because Mariah sounds AMAZING and is selling out Arenas in 2023. Must be something there….
