Lovely I'm second cousin to Norman macklin, Norman and myselfs great grandparents both died in Middlewich. My father Normans cousin have fond memories of young eccentric Norman playing classical music.

I remember Norman Macklin, he was a little eccentric. I presume he has now passed away. He was in his 50's when I knew him. Thats 40yrs ago.

@@jjsmallpiece9234 I hope he was okay the family ditched his father John and Norman and his adopted brother because of money, my grandad Albert said on numerous occasions he couldn't care less about the money

To see how the town you love and grew up in looked before you were in it is absolutely fascinating… For it to be actual moving footage even more so… This is a really precious and special video, thank you ☺️

@Mony Torris shame but isn't everywhere these days unless you can live in the cotswolds. We have a connection to the town my fathers uncle was John macken and Norman was his cousin we lost contact with them over the years.

Yes that's right Normans mother may is my fathers auntie, and yes sadly I have found out since he passed away in 2010, my great grandfather Thomas lived with John and may until his death in the 60's. All very sad but what I'm learning about Norman is brilliant my father remembers him being a bit of a genius. I would love to come up from Devon sometime and see. Do you know what became of Normans brother Geoff.

Is the original train station still here my relative John was the towns last station master, I understand he was a well known character in the town also his son Norman.

That would be John Macklin. He was stationmaster up until the station finally closed to goods traffic in 1967, and later worked at Pochins as an invoice checker. His son Norman sadly died at Winsford Grange a few years ago. The station itself is long gone (although the platforms are still there) but the station master's house, where John and Norman lived all those years ago, still survives. There are plans for a new station on the Sandbach side of the Holmes Chapel Road bridge.
