I'd say it's both. I remember all the steps but I also had to come up with and practice the segments visually first so I can picture it all as well. Luckily this new route wasn't as memory intensive because arrow smuggle flight helped simplify a lot of the movement.

that was also a strat, If he had tried to flurry rush him, he would've probably lost the run as ganondorf has 2 different attacks with those being the overhead slash and the horizontal slash. whether each one appears is based completely on rng, which is a blindfold speedrunner's worst nightmare. While parrying may seem really excessive and like he's showing off, it's the most consistent strat when doing it blindfolded, plus it saves some time.

It isn't unfair since everyone is allowed to use intro skip (and everyone who runs blindfolded does because it's way more convenient). It's definitely a bit weird that it's the exact same time as an average visual completion of the intro, but that was kept the same because it makes the rules simpler. CrystalSaver's best blindfolded intro time is a 6:41 so it's really not that far off and you can imagine less normalized strats being able to tie that time blindfolded just with a little less consistency. The intro itself is not difficult even with a blindfold because there isn't much going on in the tunnel and the community's stance is that the gameplay there isn't an important measure of skill so it can be skipped to alleviate runners from the boredom of having to watch or in this case listen to the 4 minute cutscene (of course excluding the out of bounds intro that regular any% does because that does require quite a lot of skill to pull off quickly).

With the currently known strats the estimates come out to like a 1:05 or a 1:04 so it's pretty unlikely that we'll see it soon, but I definitely think it can be done. Just needs a lot more brainstorming and extra risky strats like skipping the fairy island/steering stick detour (which I've only barely tried looking at as a possibility).

​@Player5SR i guess skipping steering stick is more likely right? Cause fairieless seems almost impossible.

@@emlsml8597 well skipping just the steering sticks is only going to be able to save 2-3 minutes max (since I finish duplicating fairies after like 4.5 minutes in the steering stick split and then collect the sticks at 7 minutes) which still isn't enough to break into sub hour territory. So yes it's more likely to be usable in runs, but for sub hour you'd need the extra 4ish minutes of timesave from not going to get/duplicate fairies. Not to mention the steering sticks probably don't lose as much time as that because it makes clipping to army as well as clipping to ganondorf faster than using other clipping methods. By skipping both fairies and sticks you'd be able to fly straight to hyrule castle after finishing GSI which is more likely to save a lot of time, but doing the rest of the run without fairies does sound like a huge pain to figure out. I'm pretty sure it's possible though you just have to be really careful with army and then you have less wiggle room for things like dragon at the end.

@@Player5SR what if someday someone is able to muscle memory their way into a sub hour blindfolded by using the non-blindfolded strat and just trying to get lucky XD. I know it probably won't happen but it would be funny if it did.
