If you place the "tail plane" (horizontal stabiliser) ahead of the main lifting wing, the way the Wright Brothers did, the way many modern combat aircraft do, the way Bert Rutan did, then most of this is unnecessary. It is very clever, I have great regard for the people who worked this out, but the dynamics of tail dragger aircraft were worked out in about 1910 ~ 1914. At that time, with rotary radial engines and stick & string biplanes, there were several good reasons to go to tractor propeller at the front and small horizontal stab at the back, but most of those reasons stop being valid once you're talking about a jet aircraft more than 40 ft long, going more than 150 mph. The first working aeroplane, the Wright Brothers Flyer, worked this way.

if the right engine is also producing power then the right bus will be getting power from the IDG mounted on right engine instead from APU. am i correct?

why don't airliners use canards instead to not have this problem? Is it anything more than it would be harder to park them at airport gates?

A question: the RAT deploys when all 5 gennys fail, all hydraulic pumps fail or there is loss of hydraulic PSI due to a leak. How will the RAT help hydraulic PSI if there is none to pump? Like when the DC10 in Iowa lost all its fluid due to an engine explosion, or the DC10 that lost its engine on take off from ohare??

Amazing video! This is probably the best explained breakdown I’ve seen and I’ve been in the APU industry 15 years. I’ll just point people here next time someone asks me what they do! 😂 I have some questions regarding use of the video for a new project I’m working on. Do you have an email or another way of contacting you?

@@AircraftScience Is there anyway you can upload the full 3 part series somewhere for me to download a high res version? KZfaq only allows me to download 720p. I'd like to splice some segments you've created into another video I'm making. You're channel will of course be credited :)

He said 83,000 kilogram fuel vapacity for centrr tank. A quick calculation indicates the following: 83,000kg × 2.2 lbs = 182,600 lbs. Divide product by 8.6 lbs [a gallon of milk] the quotient us over 21,000 gallons in the center tank. I'm no engineer, but i don't think that's possible.
@FayuYang
@FayuYang 15 күн бұрын
looking at my 777 AOM here, the center tank takes 87,887KG of fuel. 1 liter of jet a fuel = 0.85KG = 74703 liter = 19734 gallons. So yes it's possible. Jet fuel is lighter than water by the way. I fly a 787, our center tank takes 71,000kg of gas. That's about 16,000 gallons of jet fuel.

I question the case ALL 5 GENERATORS FAIL (APU+4 Engine generators). The APU is not normally able to prevent RAT deploy if it is OFF. If the 4 main engine generators fail or are turned off intentionally (MH370 possible case) APU will automatically come on, but it takes about 60-secs to fire up. Thus RAT could deploy if only the 4 engine generators fail. MH370 case (possible deliberate diversion) brings up a lot of complex questions of unorthodox ("intentional") failures.

Thanks as always, brotha! The beauty and simplicity of the APU... Is amazing and critical for most uses in the B777. Or even in other aircraft types. Because most of them uses a single brand or an alternate brand. Haha. Again! Amazing videos and an inspiration to the engineers and technicians out there!!!
