Trying to figure out what made that trip unique, or special; I keep coming up with "nothing," unless they smoked some Maui-wowwy, mind-stop, two-hit dope around the campfire every night.

nice vide - looks like fun. as a kayaker turned cat boater/rafter, i can see the appeal of a snout rig for a trip like this. question: wouldn't it be easier to swap to a spare prop than change the motor?
@JohnSells
@JohnSells 6 ай бұрын
The prop shaft itself was bent so changing a prop would just wobble anyway... although, I have gone to just changing out the lower unit instead of swapping the whole motor. Benefit of having an identical spare motor.

Nice! Glad you got to hit it before the big washout. I literally got to go down velvet just hours before it changed forever. Made the rest of the trip a brown water mess but felt blessed to be there anyway.

I enjoyed this video so much when you first posted it. Just got my first chance to run the Salt in early March, and it was as amazing as expected. My buddy and I let his 19yo son row most of it (including Pinball, Black Rocks, The Maze, Quartzite and Corkscrew)..it's amazing watching young people come into their confidence on the sticks.

We floated low water, 2.5 cfs, in April of this year (2022), Tappan Falls had higher water than what you dealt with. We did run into rain, hail, snow and sleet the last day, we covered over 30 miles the last day so we didn't have to camp in the really cold weather, bernard landing strip to the confluence of the main Salmon River. Always enjoy watching others maneuver this great waters, thanks for filming footage.

WOW !! Thank you. To put that more into perspective, I have paddle a canoe the entire way. 2016 What you just covered in 26 minutes required me, an entire day. I camped near 130,, up that side canyon to the right at the end. Fourmile Canyon? Three more days to reach Halls Crossing. My concern was,, and you have greatly taught and relieved me,, was that from the North Wash boat ramp,, or Hite to Fourmile was going to be high silt banks as are the last 40 miles of the Grand down to Pierce Ferry. Those high silt banks cannot be climbed to set a campsite. And I don't care who you are , a 30 mile canoe paddle is about the limit of endurance. I have done 40 miles a couple of times,,, but,, younger, stronger, stupider,, years ago. To have a 50 mile stretch where you cannot leave your boat,, that is daunting. Thank you. A real eye opener.

This brings back a ton of memories. I did this trip some 55 years ago, in 1967. And I still have a lot of vivid memories from that trip. Thanks for sharing!!! Like for example our motors where made by Evinrude, and after a series of troubles with them, we would call them "Everrude".
