Typical dirtbag with a badge. It should be completely impossible to get rehired anywhere if you have been fired for misconduct. No second chances for tyrants.

I’m tired of them saying he got sued. The people they got sued was a city and they took the money out of taxpayers pockets so sue the individual board members not the city. Maybe that’s the only way you take off bad police

Right because they are so diligent and ethic to report or file a report we all gotta sue them whenever possible to make them understand they don't run the show.

The major issue here is that cops are protected like this officer said when he pushed his way in the door and said if its illegal then sue...he knows it wont truly effect him and the worst that would happen is he would hve to find another job these cops who break the law who violate the trust and financial support of the citizens should be held to a higher standard then the citizens for obvious reasons

If you're a white guy with a badge, you get to do absolutely anything you want and get off Scott free every time. They'll always protect each other. The judge doesn't get a pat on the back for her "strong words." He should be charged!

Why is it all these "rouge" officers happen to be awarded with some kind of acknowledgement? Time and time again we see their superior's make excuses and not hold individuals accountable. It would be nieve to think just one officer is the issue when he was awarded the "officer of the year" a year previous

Here is a report to do for the people to understand "Follow the Money" look where these lawsuits end up taking the money from. The reason cops like this not only continue doing these actions is because they are not held accountable legally, civilly, or even socially. They are not being arrested for the clear laws broken wile violating rights (legally), they are not being held accountable financially by job hopping and by being protected by the state, city, or qualified immunity (rather call undeserved impunity but that is the civil), and other police don't rebuff officers like this. Unions defend officers like this but throw officers that actually do right under the bus and even the fact that they don't report for de-certification. (socially) This is why I would say if the people see that it's their tax money going to pay off the lawsuits that let officers like this abuse them they may second think who they elect. Only one party has voted for actual police accountability bills the other has stood with the police and them violating rights.

This is a direct result of Govt, the Judicial Branch specifically, allowing unconstitutional safeguards to other government actors, in the form of Qualified Immunity. Qualified Immunity is a doctrine made up by the Supreme Court, not a law passed by a legislative body. At last check, Article III of the Constitution DOES NOT grant the Judicial Branch any authority to make law. Qualified Immunity needs to be repealed by every state Legislature, along with all unions for Public Employees. Taxpayers should NEVER be held hostage by unions.

What’s worse is that this has been going on for decades. This first showed up in the early 1990s. Thirty years of false arrests. Other websites have reported that tens of thousands of people have been falsely arrested over the decades. What will it take to make Hertz stop? Most states limit damages and punitive damages. It will probably take a federal lawsuit against Hertz to make them stop.
