I did it at home my friend! What exactly are you trying to get done the Stainless Finish? If so, you can take it to any local cerakote guy and have him Sand blast it and that’s it. Once bare metal you can polish to the finish of your choice. Matte or Brushed steel, or High shine polish.

…I’m confused as to why do it at all? Unless you just like the aesthetics of the comp on the slide, a 3.7” barrel defeats the purpose of the comp unless you port the barrel. I’m curious if there will be any structural issues after prolonged use now that you shaved off part of the slide to make the barrel fit. Keep us updated!
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 20 күн бұрын
@@MyCoolFish the SIG so-called comp isn’t much of a comp. my opinion, it does nothing. In fact I think the reduction in barrel length from 3.7 inch to 3.1 inches increases the snappiness more than the net gain from their so-called comp. I want as long of a barrel as possible in the smallest package. Your barrel length Accounts for velocity and accuracy. And you never know when you might need to put rounds on target at 50 yards. But I only bought the AXG because of the aluminum grip module. (you cannot buy it separately) and they didn’t offer the AXG non Comp’d version or I’d have gotten that. I would have just bought an XL slide, but I wanted to do the conversion to see if it was easy and then I recommend it to others. It isn’t exactly easy so that is why I don’t recommend it to others. As For structural issues it doesn’t change anything. The gun is exactly as it was before minus a few grams of stainless steel. Plus a few grams of barrel. I didn’t weigh it before and after, but I imagine if anything it is the same weight as it was before. The only change is you can longer use the factory 3.1 inch barrel. And your barrel is now .6 inches longer. I find the gun to be less snappy with the 3.7 inch barrel but that is only my opinion. I have no scientific data that proves that one way or the other is better it is solely subjective and my opinion.

@@BigD9176 no offense taken my friend I appreciate your honesty and the only reason I bought the Legion was because of the metal grip module. I had totally given up on Stryker fired guns they do not compare to the 113 year old 1911 platform that the 2011s use but with that said I love an all metal gun. With the Sigg, you cannot buy the AXG metal grip module, you can buy a different brand metal grip, but those are very expensive. I seen the Icarus grip for $500 at Cabela’s. So by the time you build a metal Sigg. The AXG in fact is cheaper. And I customize my guns because I enjoy it allot and it allows me to share my experiences with you guys as well as make mistakes and learn from them. Some people play golf. Some people drink beer and go to the bar. I buy guns & customize them, shoot them and I am always trying to make myself and my firearms, better and more reliable and more accurate.

I was looking at doing the same thing, but it's nice to know you have to modify the slide to do so. I'm going to add a manual safety to mine next week. Drop in a P365 safety and mill out the spots on the grip. Sig rep says it will 100% work, but they don't/won't do it for you. Not sure about the warranty, but it's probably the same scenario.
@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 Ай бұрын
It is not an easy thing to do and it cannot be converted back. I would recommend simply buying a XL slide. I wouldn’t be worried about modifying these poly grips they are cheap unless yours is the AXG. If that is the case, then I highly recommend that you do not add a manual safety! To my knowledge, you cannot replace an AXG grip because they are not sold. But if you plan on keeping the gun forever and it having almost no resale value, unless someone likes the modification then go for it. I only modify guns. I’m fine with never selling.

@americantrucker9813
@americantrucker9813 Ай бұрын
They do not add any width, & answering that is completely subjective. I can only give you my opinion and my opinion is they are absolutely worth the money and I couldn’t be happier with them, they are perfectly fine for Carry. When you first get them, they are obviously most aggressive while New and on bear skin somebody with sensitive skin might find it irritating I don’t think it was any more irritating than the factory grips on bare skin. I cerakoted mine & after hours of handling they aren’t as aggressive as new but it certainly is easier on the skin now. I will say that anytime you have a metal grip that is too aggressive. All you have to do is take a scotch pad and run a few passes over it to dull it a bit.

So my screw in the 7A-X (which just means it has a rechargeable battery) broke today so I just ordered the 7 sub. From what I can tell, I think you are right and it is smaller. I will let you know as soon as I get it and I will make a video.

That’s dope looking but the longer barrel Defeats the purpose of the comp on it

What hammer/sear are you running?

I recommend the EGW ignition kit. You can get the lightened hammer or the regular hammer whichever is your preference if you are looking to replace both your hammer and sear. I would also recommend the Atlas medium flat face trigger shoe & bow

@@americantrucker9813 I did end up going with the egw kit and a red dirt trigger for mine. I like the look of your hammer better than the egw.

@2ToneFox I’m sorry my friend this video is old. I don’t have that hammer anymore, but that is the STI hammer.

Do you have a video reaming the barrel chamber? Im looking to do the same on my 5 inch prodigy. Can you share what reamer and barrel vise you used?

I honestly recommend having a gunsmith ream your barrel. It shouldn’t cost very much. But these barrels are very expensive and hard to replace and not to mention the chamber diameter is so important for accuracy, and reliable feeding. I didn’t make a video because I do not have the experience or the knowledge to do this properly so I cannot share how I did it because I wouldn’t recommend doing it the way I did it. But I do recommend having it done.

@americantrucker9813 thank you for the quick reply. What pound recoil spring are you using? I installed a EGW ignition kit and had to use a 10 pound recoil spring cause the 8 and 9 pound was having FTF problems. The heavier recoil spring fixed that problem. I'm curious as I keep seeing people running a EGW ignition kit with a 8 pound recoil spring. I'm using just standard 115gr ammo

@bassbrothersstories4006 the heavier, recoil spring will mask a tuning problem. Your extractor could be out of tune, or your barrel may need reamed, or less likely but possible your magazine could be out of tune. You should be able to run reliably with a 7 pound recoil spring, if you have a 17 lbs or less main spring. A lot of guns are over sprung to overcome parts that aren’t fine tuned. Once you fine tune yours, you’ll be able to run any combination of Spring pressures until it shoots the way you like. I run the original OEM recoil spring & guide rod in my prodigy. It’s probably less than 7lbs at this point with how many rounds are on the gun.

I’m not sure if you’re asking if I like the trigger or you’re saying you like the trigger but it’s the Mcarbo trigger & it’s awesome and with some polishing, the trigger pull is 4lbs
