Fantastic. SG must have been about 80 years old when this was recorded. The world's greatest jazz violinist and also a massively talented jazz pianist (with an echo of Art Tatum I thought). Thank you for posting!

Others can play this now, but before Jaco nobody had heard anything like it on the bass. “Where are all these harmonics coming from?” Bass students at Berklee disappeared for months, holed-up in their dorm rooms, trying to figure it out.

Truly great musicianship. I was lucky enough to see Stephane in Huddersfield and NHOP in Middlesborough (both small English towns) in the 1980s. This was at a time when jazz seemed to have a future, with new musicians coming on the scene and famous artists were performing in the most unlikely places. Now that has all gone. I saw the best of times.

The band did all the job. What a performance. But Miles playing is sometimes crap and souns horribly. Respects to Marylin Mazur and Joe McCreary alias Foley!

That was just wonderful. I met Stephane twice, and performed jazz and blues on the violin in Las Vegas. Unfortunately one time was after a bunch of people came to the venue I was playing at, right after Stephane played, for which I was at his concert and then met up to perform with a great jazz pianist from New Orleans. I almost felt like apologizing for not playing quite like the GOAT, but everybody was great, and if anything, my playing gave even greater appreciation for Stephane's brilliance, creativity and expression.

His wingman fills in whole base chords while still doing the comp. Amazing!!! OP and NHÖP R.I.P. JAMING FOR THE ANGELS.
