I’m getting ready to buy one of these rigs from eBay or Amazon to melt gold and silver. When I go fill up these tanks will the company take them away from me and give me their crappy ones or will they just fill them up for me?

My heil 7000 furnace is not working. Wont even turn on. Can hear the click but does not turn on at all. Called the electrician he says nothing is wrong with the power going to the furnace. Do you think it could be the main board like yours? I looked for the fuse but in the older furnace like ours i dont see one. Please lmk

I can never get this to work. My flame is either too big/long to fit in tight spaces or too cold to braze copper or too hot and cuts holes in the copper.. i have the Bromic brazing kit. A work mate of mine was able to make a TINY flame which was able to perfectly melt and seal solder to copper in under 20 seconds

A very helpful tip is to pour Ammonia onto the pipe before brazing.

when i braze in a new compressor, scroll copeland, i need to have nitrogen, its it correct that i put nitro on low side and blow out on the high side? Becuse the compressor have a rewerse seal on high side in compressor and can damage the seal?. correct? so its ok to flow nitrogen in to the compressor while braze?
@dunhamservice5 ай бұрын
As long as the nitrogen will flow without building pressure on the low side. I try to follow the normal refrigerant cycle for nitrogen flow.

Question do you know if i can leave my torch setup in my shed without insulation or is that to cold
@dunhamservice6 ай бұрын
My torches ride in my service truck and the back isn’t heated. Never had any issues with them not working. Toughest thing is in cold weather it’s just takes a little longer to warm the metal up you’re working on.

Hi Matt. For this copper pipe brazing, using induction brazing will be less polite, less fail, less over burn , fast precise. I have many videos for copper pipe brazing in my channel. But, have to admit, if for personal use, flame brazing is money saving than induction 😂

Good job, I've been working with Oxy torches for over 50 years, I learned flame shut off procedures in High School Metal Shop class, Acetylene is turned off first then the Oxygen. This sequence prevents flame flashback into the Acetylene hose. I remember my metal shop teacher intentionally inducing a flashback into to the Acetylene line, the tip popped and started whistling indicating that the flame was sucking air through the tip and traveling up the hose, the teacher immediatley shut off the Acetylene at the tank. There were a lot of nervous kids during that demonstration. Remember kids, if you want to see your next birthday shut off the Acetylene first then the Oxygen. Good video.

What about for propane? Same gas first I shut off?
@carlwheeler34036 ай бұрын
@@iliketurtles2993 Yes, gas first for propane as well. It is possible to get flashback up into the O2 line but shutting off the gas first extinguishes the flame to prevent O2 flashback.

Please for the love of service flow nitrogen on refrigerant lines, boys! Great video! I call that newbie maneuver you showed “painting the solder” lol. I see it once every training class covering soldering. Also, typically the first thing I do when I pull out a stick is bend a 90 into one or both sides for easier maneuvering around the joint, especially when there are more times than not where I can’t access 360* around the line as you stated.

Was a commercial/ industrial HVAC tech for 22 years. Slightly different view than residential guys. My opinion is to inform them of the cost savings vs the cost of replacement. If it's safe then no true need to replace. I also was not a salesman in any way. Unless a unit specific part was no longer available or the cost of part outweigh the cost of replacement, we would repair. Again, I understand that commercial/industrial is a different beast.

That is a good perspective to have. We try to ensure the customer has the information they need and all their questions have been answered, then allow them to make the call. This old Williamston will be plugging away for several more years.

If you read the manual for that victor set it says 5 psi for oxygen and 5 psi for acetylene. Maybe follow the manufacturer instead of some jackass on youtube. No way in hell you need 7/10 on a baby brazing tip
@dunhamservice9 ай бұрын
Ran 7/10 for years with no issue on this set as well as many others. The important thing is getting to a neutral flame. 5/5 probably would work just fine. I’m usually running a triple tip when doing work, so you are pushing a little more fuel than this 0 currently on this setup.
Just saying, your picture that comes up on KZfaq advertising this episode shows the flame from the torch pointing right at the tank and regulator assemblies. Not a good look. I'd change it.

If it’s over 15 it’s not gonna blow up it will start drawing out that acetone and it will come out of the tip
@dunhamservice10 ай бұрын
If cylinders are tipped more than 15 degrees the acetone can be drawn out with the acetylene and the flame will sputter. Without the acetone creating a composition in the tank, acetylene will explode at over 15 psi. Here is a link to an article discussing the specific of acetylene storage and usage. ehrs.upenn.edu/sites/default/files/2018-02/Acetylene%20Fact%20Sheet.pdf

Good video Matt. I thought your video was very informative and easy to understand. KZfaq can definitely be a tough slog. I learned quite a bit about video editing when Covid forced us to teach virtually. I’ve got a channel that’s been mildly successful so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
