How can people have “the best day ever” and not eat enough?! I can’t think of anything worse than a tight dress and being hungry and thirsty especially when spending like £100 per person on food and drink. Other than the getting married part, food is the main thing and it’s so important that you eat!! I’d be soooo grumpy if I didn’t eat anything and who is stupid enough to spend on average £1500 on a dress that you can’t sit down in?? People spend like 18 months planning a wedding and then neglect their basic needs and pass out? I truly don’t understand! I was a bridesmaid once and my whole memory of the day is tainted by being dizzy and hungry until the wedding breakfast because there was just no access to food and drink other than champagne. I asked a few people (brides family and staff members) for a glass of water when we were getting ready and was laughed at and my champagne glass topped up and my whole morning was me stressing about finding some breakfast because I knew I needed at least a slice of bread and butter to get me by but no one could help and I was looked at as if I was an alien like “wtf why do you need food when you have champagne?“ I was self conscious about my bad hungry breath which was made worse by the alcohol and I struggled to walk from the ceremony to the reception venue in my heels because I was definitely a bit drunk. The bride couldn’t care less though but she generally hardly eats anything anyway but I was genuinely so concerned that she hadn’t drunk any water that morning either. She kept saying it will be worth it because the wedding breakfast will be so nice and yeah it was but we were awake at 7am and the wedding breakfast wasn’t until about 3 or 4 and I really have no idea how anyone else in the wedding party coped for those 8+ hours on nothing but champagne because I felt so awful. The others were saying like omg yeah same but managed to hide it so well that I felt really alone like I was a fat and selfish piece of shit and I felt so bad for bringing it up like I was a spoiled kid or something. When I get married we are definitely having unlimited access to fresh water and food in the morning! Crazy how much A glass of water and slice of toast really can make all the difference! Gonna make sure I make as big of a fuss over that meal as I do for the wedding breakfast even though it will just be me and my parents and two bridesmaids getting ready in the morning. Lots of fresh fruit to help stay hydrated and yogurt/eggs for protein. Definitely having some kind of snacks for nibbling on after the ceremony as well 😅 I don’t ever want anyone to feel how I felt on my friends wedding day!! - it was amazing after I’d eaten btw, one of the best weddings I’ve been to! Just a shame the entire morning was ruined by spending all my effort on trying not to show how drunk I was/not cry/pretend it was fine and not act moody.

I don't expect Laura 👸🏻 herself to answer comments in detail, but perhaps some of you fellow brides and grooms can advise on my *approximate* timeline? 9:00 breakfast 9:30 hair and makeup 11:30 Uber to venue -- 12:00 arrival at venue, coffee served 12:30 registrar interviews 13:00 ceremony 13:45 confetti shot outside 14:00 pictures with everyone 14:45 cocktail hour (couple's portraits) 16:00 guests go to seats -- 16:30 starters served 17:00 speeches 18:00 mains served 19:00 room switch (tables to dancefloor) -- 19:30 first dance 19:35 party 🎉💃🍾 20:30 cake cutting 21:30 snacks served 22:45 grand exit 23:00 THE END (or after-party for those still standing) For context, everything is local in West London, we have around 40 guests and 40 evening guests. Budget is around £6k. 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️💒

I DIY’d the boutonnières and corsages for my groom, ushers, readers, etc. They were made from sprays of crystals from the craft store, put together with florist tape and decorated with ribbons. Very inexpensive, and no flowers in them, so I could do them months in advance. They looked awesome, and I’ve never seen anything like that at anyone else’s wedding. (I also did my own hair and makeup, but I am a cosmetologist anyway, so not sure if that counts as a layperson DIY.)😊

I have a question. My nephew is getting married in north carolina mountains next year and he and his fiance are asking for $300.00 gifts per couple so that others can give a gift for them for their honeymoon. I told him I will make that decision Not you. HE said he needed to know how much WE intend to give them, when we make the 11 hour drive up there from Tampa Fl. I told him since its going to cost us rather alot of money for gas, a place to stay, you are NOT Going to get 300.00 from us, for your Honeymoon to Europe. THE invitations were not by mail but by email to save them stamps. They told this on their invitation that they wanted this amount so they know how to budget for their honeymoon in ITaly and France. How would you both deal with it. She is a traveling pediactric nurse, he is still in college living in a nice apart they both pay for.. how nervy are these two kids in their 20's to ask for everyone to give them a set amount. I also told him that he forgot that when he was 12 years old my husband and i worked very hard to get him his first camera, he only had it for 3 weeks after i paid $350.00 for it, i had to work all week to pay for it, and then after he got bored with it, his mother sold it for $500.00 and profited from this. I told him your money is in the camera, because you are so rude and tacky to ask us for that kind of money ask your mom where is the $350.00 camera that you sold for $500? I told him i already gave you your gift i AM NOT GIVING YOU ANY GIFT. How would you handle this??

What do you suggest for outdoor multi tiered cakes and protecting cakes from flies?
@laurabethevents
@laurabethevents Жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon, best and prettiest option I have seen is using a fly net with a hoop at the top that could be hung from a tree. Much like you would have over a bed in a hot country to protect from the flys! Hope that makes sense - hard to describe with no picture!

Really helpful video, thank you! 😊 Quick question, how do you seat two families where one is massive compared to the other? My partner has a large family whereas I don't. It's getting tricky to place people as the numbers are not even. I don't have two set of grandparents, he does. I only have my mum, he has a mum and dad. He has several sets of cousins, I have two. Do you see what I mean? Any advice would be great. X

Great video! I definitely won't toss my bouquet (don't even know if I want a bouquet after all, I'm not a flowers person), but if anyone does, no one should _force_ guests to be part of it. It's often fun for teenage girls, but for single women in their 30ies who often already get questions about their relationship plans, not so much. Also: In Germany, it's a new trend to throw a plush ostrich (with a little wedding veil) because the German word for bouqet ("Strauß") also means ostrich :D
