I’m a retired US Air Traffic Controller…. ATC is hands-down the BEST career… IF you can handle the stress & shift work. I spent over 30 years cramming 10# of airplane into a 5# airport. There’s no greater satisfaction when the rush is (temporarily) over and no one had to hold and they all landed with minimum separation. There’s a pretty good movie about ATC called Pushing Tin. Some of it is kind of goofy, but they did a pretty good job of showing how we think in 3D and the competition between controllers about filling holes. I was told many times that “That’s not a hole” and my retort was always “Wanna bet!” 😊

Have just read over the comments below from other pilots and how this site is a travesty and a piece of junk!. It turns out that my comments echo each of the ones listed below. Please take this site down and reinstall the old AWWS site. It was 10X better than this one. Just wondering if it was designed by the same people who did the ARRIVECan site????

Next brilliant step will be to turn comments off. To make it more difficult for mature pilots like me to express my opinion. Like this is a lot of nonsense. Start by scrapping the ridiculous background noise here, and find an English speaking automation ! As if there isn’t enough to test our patience. !

Student pilot here. I'm in shock Navcanada would take away AWWS. It was much simpler to use for easy reading of METAR and TAF summary, GFA for regions, and upper winds. No more plain language METAR/TAF either? CFPS is terrible to use on mobile. Imagine you had a flight test the day after AWWS was discontinued and were unaware of its impending decommission.
@robdoel27444 ай бұрын
Just started playing with this site, is it designed for DOS!? The old AWWS site was WAY BETTER. You’ve almost guaranteed I’ll be using ForeFlight WX from now on. You’ve made WX harder to access in the air, and also a safety risk.
@smolhummingbird4 ай бұрын
Before on the AWWS I had all the meters and tafs routes and GFA’s saved on my phone and desktop for a one button click.. QUICK recall, which is needed for my job. Now I bring up the page have to type in each code separately, select the data I need separately. This takes significantly longer and it is a flight safety issue in my opinion.
@leewallkit4 ай бұрын
Seriously!.. You want us to be Safe pilots please bring back the direct links to GFA, Metar, Winds aloft etc… What mess you’ve created! Unbelievable!

I agree! The new website is a flight safety issue. Simple is better.

Why do you not have an weather icon button on every graphical page the gives the list of weather icons. Tap the button to open and close. CFPS current only weather icon search feature sends me onto a goose chase through manuals and takes me out of my working page. Absolutely silly.

Why changing a page that was so easy to use? Everyone knows you don’t shouldn’t change a page that works perfectly unless is for better, and clearly this isn’t better
@swiftadventurer4 ай бұрын
Where is the plain language option for METAR and TAF like the old system had; can’t find it? I can’t display the graphical forecast in full screen; can that be done? VERY cumbersome site. When designing something new in the tech era, it must be better, simpler, and more user friendly than the old product; not the opposite.

You have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and select the "Desktop" hyperlink, this switches the website from the mobile to the desktop version.
