Obenaufs grease light coats as possible, not heavy loads, grease on my work boots and oil Obenaufs too in thrisrty leathers. I try to avoid many often oiling, just once a year or each 2 yrs. Highly recommend bricks 4 or cadillac conditioning cream, will not dark at all your boots and is a quick refresher for the leather, I use a lot in many of my boots to keep them smooth and avoid dry leather. Venetian cream too, will dark a bit but is a nice cream for CXL and leaves a shiny looking.

Definitely will be an amazing leather. I think wax flesh holds a bit better than all other ones since it had many wax as protection

Highly recommend you brother the venetian cream, give about 3 to 4 coats, let dry each one for 15 to 30 minutes and leather will come to 95% original look. Let dry and brush, then a other coat. Chunky coats if possible. You will see how good it will look. Venetian cream is made by horween and exclusive for CXL and Waxed Flesh

Builder for work is perfect. The wax is super good, too. The more I use that leather the more I like

Same spot here, brother. Still, I use the Thorogoods, which are similar to carolinas, but far away Nicks in quality for sure. I love both and use them depending on the day, most of the time Nicks, of course! 😆

@@MIIIB Quality wise I think law tanning did well, and the guys at homestead constructed it equally well. I brought the briefcase on a trip with me. I think the lady standing in front me of massively scuffed the leather , like 7 to 8, 4inch long and pretty wide gashes from her keychain or something, definitely damaged the grain layer like you would see on a pair of workboots. I finished my 6 day trip carrying it around without getting new scuffs so I am pretty sure it's not the bison leather being prone to scuffs that is the problem. The briefcase is definitely on the hefty side being 2.4kg or around near 6 pounds empty but I am used to heavier bags. When I got back, I got to polishing the scuffs. A dry polish with a cloth, then a brush followed by a very sparing amount of saphir renovateur and finishing layer of saphir 1925 wax creme and the damage was very well covered up and the colour was back. If I look at the scuffed area very closely, the damaged grain layer is still there for sure, but at any meaningful viewing distance, the briefcase looks new again but is now in fact better than new, it is earning its use lol. I can't recommend bags this weight to anyone used to modern bags that probably weight around less than a pound but for anyone looking for a leather bag, it's a killer.

Didn't know what that heavy the Bison but now has my attention. May order one in the future The bags are earning the way. I like scuffs since show the history, but at the same time, I see some people that are really meticulous and care so good about leather goods that made me doubt my beliefs sometimes, hahahaha. @@MIIIB Oh your beliefs is definitely correct in that scuffs should be shown, but in this case these went way over scuffs and into the damage territory in my opinion. I don't usually baby my leather goods that much but this time the scuffs were really all in one place and they were deep and out of place when viewed with the entire bag because they were not in a place with expected wear and tear. Just 7-8 gashes focused on one spot with no finishing left, so the polishing is really just to put some finishing back on the leather surface to protect the area more than anything. I was pleasantly surprised despite using clear cream and wax that the colour came back so well.

Quite a lot of years and use for sure brother, had pass thru many obstacles. It's hard to remember each stuff but oil and cream, easy each 3-5 months

Work leathers are good start point and for work those leathers are the best, today Nicks call them ;maxx support' leathers which is a small selection of Black, Tan, 64 brown, walnut. Those are the best for WORK. I would say will break alot faster than Redwings leathers since redwings are more rigid and less flexible. Nicks are rigid at the 1st week but by the 2 and 3rd week already mold 70% and make a huge difference. The most you use them the more comfortable they come. Will come a point were you will not want to send it to resole due to the great fit they will get, I recommend for work always the lug sole no matter what...

half size is what I recommend. Wight same as always if you can get the Thurman last will be better is you are wide foot fella, if not, then stick to normal last

Back in a day a few yrs ago was only 2 to 3 months now is almost 6 to 8 so I highly recommend the quick ship option. I would start with the most versatile boot either a Ranger which is a 8" height with a mini lug sole, then you will know if you want to go bigger with Builders Pro or lighter with 6" boots. If you may want your first work boot, then go Builder pro for sure. Worth every penny. Work leathers are the best IMO

Hey Rick brother! I have to say the bison its calling me! Its quite pliable in small goods? for some reason the firm W&C leather they offer, fit me better but wondering people that use the bison what they think

@@MIIIB I have a pair of Nicks shrunken bison boots and wanted a belt to match. Homestead Brands lines the bison with another layer of leather. However, it's still more pliable than the W&C leather belts. I'd say for you the bison belt would only be for special occasions, not a work belt. I'll email you a closeup picture.

Nicks is a tank but they structure of the boots if completely different. Not 260 stitching, single piece vamp, etc... Anyways I like the moctoe but I will not buy another one at this moment. You are completely the lead time is insane.

I avoid that Pro since its 360 stitching but they dont use leather bedsole, they do rubber. Not my thing.

I’m loving my new boots. Just ordered a pair of leather laces since it only came with the nylon ones. I bought them for the look. Very comfortable. Just got into the hand made boot game. Started with a pair of Java Waxed flesh pair of boots from Truman. Great boots as well. Check ‘em out. Saludos!

Truman is a great brand, for sure. Shame they no longer do the uplands model. I liked it a lot, but so far, their exclusive leathers are so nice. Hope the perrys doing great buddy!
