Great video Mark, interesting to hear more about the A110.. didn’t realise there were so many variations! Loved that immaculate Renault 9, looked absolutely lovely and super rare now. Supercinqs were almost street furniture… where did they go? The Avantime, what can I say except wow, a business plan that should never have got approved but so glad it did! That Megane CC, what a colour combination!!

Thanks, I'd love a classic A110 and the modern incarnation is one of the few modern cars that I really like. The R9 GTL looked to be in great shape and the cassette holder was a genuine accessory that was sculpted to fit the dash top. The Avantime is one of those cars that's pretty much a classic from conception and is typically if Renaults bold design languid the time such as Vel Satis and Megane 2. I'd love another R5 but they are not as cheep as when I had one twenty five years ago

I've had a few cars in the past that have gone due to uneconomical repairs, only to have regretted it in the long run. I think the rust issues are pretty well known these days in the Puma and most owners have them in spite of the risk of corrosion. As you say they are great fun.

You are not the first to mention this and I've seen one in both the R171 and R170 but I don't think that it was standard fit in all cars. Both the cars I've driven had a small draw just about big enough for a smaller size smart phone.
@jstodalk

@@markonmotoring The location of the cup holder is actually very convenient as the temperature of the drinks are regulated by the vent above the radio. When the air conditioner is on, the vent does a good job of keeping your drink quite cold. I don't drive the SLK in our Canadian winters, so I'm not sure if it also does the job of keeping your coffee warm when the heat is turned on.

I miss colourful interiors like that Ford Fiesta. I beleive the Visa parked next to it is from Scotland and sure it suffered from a faulty alternator or clutch issue. Always liked the Nissan Bluebird, used to be one on my paper run. I need to try a Ford Ka one day and a Rover R8. Love that Alfa 145 with the boxer engine, orginally registered in Edinburgh most likely at Arnold Clark. The Blue Volvo 144 is another Scottish Car, have seen that a few times at Retroshi*e meets. Really like David's Focus Saloon reminds me of my Zetec Hatchback in the same colour i had a few years ago. 1.6 Petrol was always the preferred choice over the 1.8 among Focus Enthusiasts. The Autozan i beleive was another car from Scotland, bought by James Glen Car Sales in central scotland. By far the best coverage of FOTU, a well edited and well made video.

Thank You, great to hear you are enjoying the car. I don't think that this example had the cup holder but a small draw that pulls out instead. The R170 had something similar, perhaps the cup holder was an optional extra or something that was added to the standard spec at a later date? Mercedes along with some other German car manufacturers often charges extra for items you may expect as standard.

The CRX is the one I featured in more detail last year in my video from another event. The two replicas really were very good and I think the key is in the Replica part, it's a kit but it's not built in a donor chassis, it's all bespoke so the dimensions of the vehicle are accurate compared to the real thing. Many of the finer details are also genuine parts as used in the original cars. Oh and I completely agree about the generic appearance of modern SUV's.

We don't have the 500 any more but they are not at all bad for noise. A friend went from a Citroen C1 to a 500 and did comment on how he found the fiat to feel more premium despite all of the hard plastic. The 500 seemed to sit In a gap between cars like the 107/C1 and the more costly Mini. We had two Fiat 500's and only lost the red one after 11 years of ownership after someone rear ended it and wrote the car off due to its low value by that point.
