Imagine a car event where all cars are equal. it doesn't matter if your in a Fiat or a Ferrari, Retro, modern or classic car.
A celebration of cars that in some cases are clinging on to life long after others have fallen victim to scrappage.
The first ever Rustival held at the British Motor Museum attracted a hugely diverse range of cars, many of which are seldom seen out in the wild on our roads today.
With more car events and reviews booked over the next few months there will be more videos like this one coming very soon so make sure you don't miss out by subscribing and hitting the bell icon to be notified when the next video goes live.
In the mean time, are you following Mark On Motoring on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Its a great way to keep up to date with the latest channel news.

Are you based in Yorkshire and have an interesting car that would make for a great video.
Could be anything from a Metro to a Maserati, as long as you have a passion for it there is a good chance that someone else will do too...

Thank you so much. My videos are very labour intensive so do end up taking a while longer to publish. It also means that I didn't get all the way around the event. I would have loved to have featured more cars but maybe next time. The museum is fabulous. I had a rush around again over an hour at the end of the day until kicking out time.

Thank you. I did try to give a rounded coverage but we all have our areas of expertise I suppose when it comes to car brands. I also wanted to try to cover different vehicles to others. For example I could probably have done decent coverage of MG/Rover cars but there were other channels attending who I knew would be covering those in detail already.

Beautifully presented Video, Mark. Lovely to see Rustival been so successful by carving out a niche, with an incredible selection of cars, thanks to the organisers Channels. As a kid, our tv repair man had a Citroen van like that

Thanks Mark. There are plenty of classic car event's, modified car events, retro etc... but in the UK at least only this and possibly FOTU seem to actively encourage this level of automotive diversity. I honestly don't recall having ever seen a GS van before but it certainly was a cool looking vehicle.

Really good video of a great event. I didn’t expect to see my Corsa B featured! A car that was everywhere and then faded away. Mine is possibly now the oldest road legal Corsa being registered in April 93 at launch. The K plates are disappearing and the phase 1 pre facelifts are getting very uncommon. I’ll continue to keep it going for as long as I can. Happy motoring!

Thank you, I seem to recall there was another pre facelift Corsa B in the day (possibly a Merit or similar). As you say these were once everywhere and it's nice to see there are still a few tidy examples out in our roads

Thank you and it was my pleasure, had I know the Clio was yours I'd have probably asked to look inside or even for an interview. Luckily I know enough about these to scrape by but it's never as easy trying to film a car through a window. The mk1 Clio passed us by because both me and my dad went from R5's straight to MK2 Clio's.

Nice video Mark - seems strange seeing my Biturbo on screen but thanks for including it. The mismatching alcantara on the driver's seat stands out a bit, but the previous owner couldn't find an exact match at the time!
@markonmotoring
@markonmotoring 5 ай бұрын
Thanks, It's an interesting and rare machine and well worth featuring. I noticed the colour of the alcantara when I was editing the video. It's not always easy getting the exact fabric to match so I suppose sometimes it's the best match available or nothing at all.

Thanks, You are very welcome. These were my favourite generation of Ibiza. My dad test drove a fairly low spec one in the mid 90's but went for something else. They looked pretty good though and were nowhere near as common as the current generation of Ibiza are today making for something a bit different to the crowd.

Nice one Mark, the Multiplas are finally being appreciated for being innovative, more so than back in the day. I’d no idea that the Gordini was so different to the stock R5. How French was the R4 with Bibendium on the roof?? The Trabant looked totally bonkers!
@markonmotoring
@markonmotoring 5 ай бұрын
I think cars that are a bit left field often seem to gain a following decades after production ends. The Multipla like all the other compact MPV's of the era was always very innovative and that innovation is highlighted even more so today when compared to the current trend of SUV's. The interior of that Multipla with its tall windows, twin sun roofs and brightly coloured upholstery is very inviting. I didn't realise just how many mechanical differences the Gordini had from the standard R5 either. The Trabi in standard firm is mad enough but this modded example really is bonkers but in a good way.

My first car was also a R5 Super in TR spec. Again I didn't go out to buy a R5 but my dad had bought so many Renaults over the years he knew the garage would do me a good deal. Did the Clio RT not also come in 1.8 form as well?
@markonmotoring
@markonmotoring 5 ай бұрын
My Dad had also owned four super 5's in the past before I bought mine. I had a TL so very similar to.your TR but with the 1108cc engine instead. I did have the optional.five speed gearbox though. Yes you are right about the Clio RT being available with a 1.8 eight valve unit. This particular car was a 1.4 and an auto.
